Post: Cvars that still work

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Right, don't get yourselves in a piss-up about this but I just heard news that certain CVARS still work in the cod4 gamesave for the Playtation 3.

Such examples as follows.

cg_laserForceOn “1″
perk_sprintMultiplier “2″
perk_weapReloadMultiplier “0.2″
perk_extraBreath “10″
jump_height “44″
player_meleeHeight “20″
player_meleeRange “78″
player_meleeWidth “20″

I haven't tried this. I also heard about creating a file that is not present in the gamesave package and placing cvars in there so they are read by the game and not the patch. File extension is unknown at this time. Any information please share. If this is bullshit let me know and I will get this thread deleted. Like I said don't get yourselves in a hype about this unless it works. I will find out more in a few hours.

Thanks

idk might work
but u could use all these only OFFLINE and u have to delete ur patch

With these you shouldn't have to delete the patch. IF! They work at all ONLINE. If someone has access to a ps3 at this moment give it a try and let me know if it works or not.

Oh and you may want to place my examples in both the MP & CM file.

Thanks for all your info. I will get this thread deleted. I still haven't had the chance to check this out but I will take your word for it.

edit: The only thing that interested me was the "Create a file with all the CVARS you want in it using notepad and place that file in the gamesave folder along with the files in there already". < Still no filename or extension yet but as the 1st bit was bollux im guessing it's all shit. It could be something to look into though just incase, it does make sense. And no, the names/extensions of the files for the PC version will not work, it would be like trying to run a windows program in linux It can't be done. I might discuss this with Stu later to see what can be dug up. Maybe the PC Version could give us a push but the extension needs to be suitable for the ps3, how to find that out is the problem. I may aswel keep this thread here until something comes up, saves me having to start another thread that could be shit. If you find something then add it here or PM me.

Ok so back to basics, the reason the cvars didn't work is because there is no "Set" command in the cvars. As you will find, for those of you that tried the examples, if you copy your gamesave back to your USB and look at the files you will notice the commands are still there. That's because the command is incomplete therefore not a command at all so the patch has ignored it and the game will do nothing with it. Putting the "Set" before each command is the complete command which will work, but does it? No because the patch deletes it from those files. Set cg_ Set_Player Set_melee all that stuff is patched. I don't think there are any game options that work now, in the .prf files anyway.

So the next bit which David came to me about brings me to the question, "So where are the game options being read from?". A hidden file within the gamesave perhaps? The blue-ray disc? An embedded file within the playstations file structure? I think it's fair to say that this is too deep to go into for some silly cheats. If you want to look into it then here is my theory on where the options could be.

Read from?
Hidden file in the gamesave folder: 5% chance
The disc: 80% chance
The playstations FS: 11% chance
(The 4% chance for the unknown)

Start on the disc. How? Blu-ray disc burner and all the hardware including blu-ray support for windows + decoder. <In my opinion I don't think it will decode EVERYTHING anyway but I don't know.

PS3 File Structure. There is a FREE SDK available that breaks down the ps3's file structure but to be honest, it's too much work but take a look by all means. If you are from TC/NGB then you must know the guy that knows about this. SDK Download Link? Google

Hidden file/file can be added in the gamesave folder containing cvars. NOT worth it! Would be fairly hard to find out what extension to be used (like devil has said, it has to be suitable but to the game not the ps3 as the game is the software that would be reading that particular file).

Good luck people!

*Catch ya later Devs lol*
