Post: Cvars that still work

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Right, don't get yourselves in a piss-up about this but I just heard news that certain CVARS still work in the cod4 gamesave for the Playtation 3.

Such examples as follows.

cg_laserForceOn “1″
perk_sprintMultiplier “2″
perk_weapReloadMultiplier “0.2″
perk_extraBreath “10″
jump_height “44″
player_meleeHeight “20″
player_meleeRange “78″
player_meleeWidth “20″

I haven't tried this. I also heard about creating a file that is not present in the gamesave package and placing cvars in there so they are read by the game and not the patch. File extension is unknown at this time. Any information please share. If this is bullshit let me know and I will get this thread deleted. Like I said don't get yourselves in a hype about this unless it works. I will find out more in a few hours.

i heard something about two saved game data, and the cvars working but its a rumour, i doubt it will work. 2 game data and 1 with cvars

What do you mean? The CM file is the 2nd one or one of the game saves that cvars are used in. MP + CM but neither provide what we want. Is that what you meant?

edit: It's alright, I know what you mean now.. I miss read your post. It's just the filename and the file extension we need if this is true. I think Stu is right though, it's not worth it because if it is true and it works then this method will get patched.

ok, yh i heard this somewhere and tbh getting hacks back may never happen again. People do have hacks yes, but 1 in the 5 million that play, stu n devil are doing a gd job, but it looks like nothing will happen, on cod 4 that is.

These files are dll's being injected into the game. If we could inject our own dll's into the game then maybe it could work. SImple, if we do Single player the CVars work. As you can see in Gpado_SP it sets an instrustion to load into the game. I don't have my ps3 save right now. Just remerbering off the stop of my head, set somthing "lastsave". So the cvars are loaded in the last game. What if there was a command like that for Multiplayer. But then again the patch checks for any alterations.

If I knew what language cod4 was coded in, assuming it was c++ we could bassically write a code, thats sends a fake check back.

See, the patch checks for altered files. If we could intercept that check and send back a fake one it might work.

It's sort of works a like a crc, cycle reduncency check.

Im 100% sure, that there is a file on the cd that enables the check
If we could decrpyt some of the files on the cd. we could easily turn off secrutiy

woow nice idea, but i wouldnt have a clue of what language it was in, i really dont know if we would get anywhere with this, maybe.

Decrypt Blu-Ray disk, extract files and edit the options (cvars) to enable cheats. Blank Blu-Ray disk, burn files to the blank blu-ray disk using a blu-ray burner. Cod4 cheats for the ps3 can't be patched this way. Stuz post is detailed so check it out. Its allll gooood!

tbh ive always thought that the hacks are in the game save, so im gonna try some diffo combos eg. run_ or start_

Cool, tell us what you find. But like Stu said the game options could be anywhere so nothing guarantees that the cvars are in the gamesave still. What could be happening now is the cvars could be placed in the gamesave temporarily while the game is running, this could of been happening since the release lol. But if the cvars are already in there then they won't be overwritten or duplicated, that is why phaez hack worked. This is just my theory but when the cvars are different in the gamesave file to the options given while the game is running, as they are not the default values they get overwritten with the default due to the patch. When the game is ended, that could be when the "temporary cvars" are deleted. Anyone have any views on this?
