Lol this is very serious. This could halt development.

Its as simple as this. To avoid a lawsuit they could just change the technical in-game date of 2025 to something like 1970 and then just call everything in it super advanced experimental technology. Suing Treyarch would only end up hurting IW because if they had to make such a radical change and shift the storyline of the game to a sci-fi 1970s game many people would think twice about buying the game and in turn think about never buying any COD title again, including an IW game.
