Post: [Gathering Intel] Black Ops II Server Error

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); This thread is mainly focused on those who are experiencing server errors and issues. Particulary the "Server Unavailable Error". Hopefully with this thread I'll be able to gather enough relevant intel to assist Treyarch with their investigation.

If you are one of the few unlucky PS3 users who have been experiencing these issues from day one, could you please spare a few minutes to help out in my investigation. All results will be sent to Activision support once i have gathered enough intel to assist them. Please answer these questions in a serious manner so the intel is accurate.

- Do you own a CFW PS3? 3.41,3.55,4.21.
- Have you attempted you spoof it? If so, using which method.
- Have you data transfered from your CFW PS3 to your OFW PS3 since spoofing your CFW PS3?
- Are you banned on you CFW PS3?

If you are wondering why im asking these types of questions, it's cause I've started to see a consistant pattern within the users experiencing these issues, which is a majority of them have or had a CFW PS3 recently. The casue may be something you might of installed onto your FTP program while attempting to spoof your PS3. I may be completely off, but it's a probable theory.

I have three OFW PS3, I did data transfer on three of them and two of the PS3 where in CFW 3.55 back then, now none of them can connect to matchmaking.

I dont think is a CFW problem or ban, is just a result of a rushed beta release, Devs are working on a fix, waiting is the key.

Yes. I have OFW ps3 and CFW ps3. However, no I do not have any kind of ban, either console or account and to my knowledge, I have never been banned from any game either.

Until Black Ops 2, I had never pirated a game, but have since purchased it anyway. I only pirated it to play it early, otherwise I would never have done so.

I have never tried to spoof my OFW PS3 is any way. I have, however, spoofed my CFW in the past. BUT, other than for data transfer, my 2 ps3s are entirely seperate.

I have previously modded other games and done data transfers from my cfw to my current ofw ps3,which did still show blackboxftp and a spoofer in the xmb even tho they couldnt be used on ofw. I also had a modded savedata installed for mw3. I signed on to my origianl munky name, got froze and when not froze it would say server error. so i deleted all my modded or unapproved pkg files and started a new name and have been playing ever since. But a friend had the same from a recent data transfer from me and got banned on 2 different names even tho he deleted everything.

Well on the official BO 2 forums they have a stickied thread with essentially this with over 100 pages. I'll just say this, one PS3 was originally jailbroken 2 years ago, but was now being used to transfer over patches to play online (still had homebrew on it at one point, is on the current firmware, and is not banned from anything.) No amount of finagling has enabled me to get any account to work online. I have a completely new PS3 that can connect to the servers fine with a new account but when trying accounts that could not access the servers on the other PS3, they were still unable to connect to the servers. So this leads me to believe it has to be some form of temporary or permanent block or something.

I have a fat 20GB PS3 OFW. Never been jailbroken or had CFW before and I get this error. Maybe someone else's spoof was identical to my ID? I don't know. No account works on my console.

So far, after looking through your answers, It has me to believe the server error may have been casued by some sort of file you installed onto your CFW while trying to spoof it. Treyarch might of unknowingly included some new features to Black Ops II, which requires that file to work, but that file is now modified. Hence the server error. I'll update you when I know more.

When updating a ps3 wouldn't that make the file unmodified? E.g. I have not data transfered to my system for over 6 months. I have updated to the newest firmware and I am still unable to play on my main account. I have tried two other systems to get online and I still get the error. I can use a different account on ny main system. Just not my main account. I do not think it is a cfw issue. You may see lots of problems with people that happen to have cfw's on this site as it is a Modding site. Many people that don't have a cfw also have this issue

I can play on any account fine, but when I try my main account, all I get is the error. You must login or register to view this content.
