All my friends are getting scuf controllers and advance headsets meanwhile I just have a psn controller and a bluetooth. How much of a difference do those two really make?
Honestly in new cods footsteps are so hard to hear anyway that the really dont make that big of a difference. I have trittons and i can sound whore probably 4/10 people who are running near me. I would pick them up if you have the money because it really does improve the game experience. But don't excpect you gaming to monumentally improve.

You don't really need one, Scuf makes it easier to JumpShot, trigger stops.
- Learning to Play Claw is like having a Scuf Controller to jumpshot(I learned playing Claw in MW3 but it takes a while to get used it, now I am used to it) or play Tactical button layout to do jumpshots.
- You don't need any fancy headsets, an 75$ headset will work fine.
Scuf is seriously not really not needed. I payed 80 pound for one and I regret doing it now! I mean just for 2 paddles on the back and some hypersensitive triggers that don't do anything it is a waste of money.
On the other hand a good headset is worth it.
everyone i know thats got one has said that, its just some silly crazy someone is making money off lol i even heard people complaining down their mics everynow and then that their 'scuf' controller is playing up when they get beaten by people using normal controllers im just like realllllllyy as if it even makes a huge difference

If you are serious about competitive you need a headset. Most people sound whore and it really does make a difference. I have astro a40s and play competitive and I could not play with just my speakers again there is no comparison. The scuff controller is really only good in black ops 2 for the fal, you get basically fully auto with half the recoil given by the select fire. Really not needed if you ask me. As the guy said above learn to play claw if you need the easier jump. I have always played claw and it is much better, it will take time to get use to but will be worth it down the line.
I know nothing about Scuf but a headset can do wonders. Sound Whoring isn't all that useful in BO2 but hearing reloads, shock charges buzzing and verbal character cues help. Being able to be immersed in the game and speak with teammates is worth it. You just become more aware.

Well with awareness people sound so loud in S&. But you're right it's not just footstep it's being able to hear little things that give you the advantage.
