yes and no...
The first United States nuclear test was in 1945.
During British nuclear testing in 1952–1953 there were instrumentation failures that were attributed to "radioflash," which was then the British term for EMP.
They only discovered the effects of EMP's (electromagnetic pulses from nukes) in July 1962 during Starfish Prime which was a high-altitude nuclear test, Resulting in radiation belts.
These man-made radiation belts eventually crippled one-third of all satellites in low earth orbit.
(including the first commercial relay communication satellite ever, Telstar.)
The vietnam war started november 1, 1955 – April 30, 1975.
