Now with the version of Black Ops Call of Duty for PS3 is totally more radical problems through: www.eurogamer.net / articles / digitalfoundry-call-of-duty-black-ops-faceoff and www.computerandvideogames.com/ article.php has been able to publicize that there are major problems here is the summarize:
- The low resolution of the PS3 is more than other games of COD from 1024x600 to 960x544, the 360 version rather goes up to 1040x608 resolution.
- The version of the 360 has significantly better performance because the PS3 version's framerate will drop to 20FPS even during the cutscenes!
- The version of the 360 has higher resolution and better shadow shadow filter.
- Bugs in the graphics appear on both versions of the game (PS3 and Xbox 360) but the PS3 is more frequent.
- In 3D mode for both version down the frames per second faster but the 360 version keeps caudros for second best while the PS3's FPS down to less than 20FPS!
- Although Modern Warfare 2 supports online multiplayer splitscreen with 2 separate accounts for both Xbox360 and PS3, Black Ops only in the ps3 you can create a guest account while the Xbox 360 if you can put 2 different accounts.
- At the same time it is reported that the PS3 version makes the screen freeze.
Now for those who now ask because if Infinity Ward could make Modern Warfare 2 play almost exactly the same for both PS3 and Xbox 360 because Treyarch did the same with Black Ops?
The answer is simple, Infinity Ward used the graphics engine for Call of Duty 4 updates and improvements to optimize it better and the graphics engine performance was almost identical between the PS3 and Xbox 360, while Treyarch use the graphics engine of World at War where they tried to optimize it for Black Ops but could not.
Now you will say but if both Infinity Ward and Activision and Treyarch are under will not use the same graphics engine?
For reality is that Infinity Ward created the graphics engine so with IP-based Infinity Ward Quake 4 game engine, so Infinity Ward Treyarch only gave part of its graphics engine and Treyarch will optimize it had to take care of to your liking, but due to the recent separation of the founding members of Infinity Ward, Treyarch decided to use the graphics engine of World at War but in the end it was that Black Ops have problems in other versions and it is clear the difference between developers who are Infinity Ward and Treyarch.
Here is another article about the problems
A post on the official Black Ops forum has compiled all the known issues being experienced by PS3 gamers.
The following are all the bugs and glitches being reported:
- Cannot invite friends to join the game
- "Disconnected due to transmission Error" appears after a match
- Mic icons not displaying in game lobby
- "Locale Search" not functioning
- Players respawning too close to enemies
- "Theater" mode not functioning
- Knifing control doesn't work
- Leaderboard information is wrong
- Framerate issues
- Crashing issues
This is clearly not just a handful of users having problems with their gaming setup. These are functional, substantive glitches that developer Treyarch is hopefully looking into.
It should be noted that none of the above problems are being reported with any frequency in regard to the Xbox 360 version of the game. PC gamers are, though, experiencing lag issues in online play as well.
We know Treyarch had a tight deadline for this game to correspond to last year's Modern Warfare 2 launch, but hopefully it didn't skimp on the QA process. It certainly sounds like there are deep problems with the architecture of the PS3 port.
