We all know Call of Duty‘s setup: one year we get the highly anticipated Infinity Ward title, and the next we get the Treyarch one, which never goes down quite as well. Call of Duty: Black Ops is seemingly bucking the trend this year though, with amazing sales and high praise from critics and gamers alike. Apparently we’re wrong to think of Treyarch as the lesser of the two developers too, or at least Activison CEO Bobby Kotick says so.

When a Joystiq interview refereed to the developer as the b-team of the franchise, Kotick was quick to shoot it down. “That’s an unfair view of Treyarch. You know it’s not really an objective view,” he said.

“Treyarch contributed so significantly to the multiplayer technology that’s in Modern Warfare 2 and they didn’t really get the credit for that.” Treyarch also keep their hands busy around the clock with other projects like Wii-ports of CoD games; they’re certainly an efficient studio.

Kotick also commented on the current state of Infinity Ward: “There’s at least 60 or 70 super-talented, amazingly capable people who are there. They shouldn’t have to suffer for the bad actions of a couple of guys. They have a great culture, they’re really good independent thinkers – incredible technology base.”

They dont deserve any credit because there games are crap. As a PS3 user, I find Treyarch can not develop for any console other than 360 and they just make a crappy port.

That's for 2 reasons:

a) MS & Activision are very close and they do a lot of deals together; it may have been done on purpose.

b) It's universally agreed amongst developers the PS3 is much harder to develop for, one of the developers of the PS3 itself even admitted that.

There's a reason the 360 is developed on first. Or in this case, 2 reasons.

Well, Treyarch should deal with it.

We as PS3 users pay $60 for a game. Xbox 360 users pay $60 for a game.

Why should PS3 users get an inferior product when paying the same price?

And don't feed me the "we pay for xbox live" bull shit. That is a completely different subject/matter

Call of Duty 4 was probably the best title for call of duty yet but Black Ops might have taken that title. The game is sufficient and it has yet to be abused, Infinity Ward used no encryption valves to make the source superior but Treyarch used strings to help prevent most of these attacks from being labeled. And also, thank god for the UA block the dashboard update offered to help prevent requests from Jtags.

Anyways, Infinity Ward put too much effort in the game graphics which lowered their ability to revise/re-edit their game labels. Plus, having no beta except a private one with 20x individuals testing won't help you discover much.

Black Ops - I can use any gun and dominate my opponent due to the equality all the guns have
MW2 - I am forced to use powerful guns like the TAR-21/AK47/SCAR-H to dominate my opponents due to the inaccuracy and slow reaction times from other guns.

They need to both team up and make one epic COD game.

I don't agree with it, but I was just saying that's the situation. I don't think you'll find anyone(besides fanboys) who agree with it.

So what is your solution? What do you not agree about?

If thats the case, then charge PS3 users less for the game.

If the PS3 is so "hard" to develop on they maybe they should pass on doing it at all! IW doesn't look like its having any problems developing on the PS3.
