This is what sony uses to sign files i do believe.

There is no hope of "cracking" it.

There are a few methods of going about trying to find the correct keys used. PM me for details but I wont be giving them out to anyone who is not VERY well known in this community. there are about 5 people im willing to discuss this with. If you dont have at least 2000 rep dont bother sending me a pm please.

sorry to dash everyones hopes, but this doesnt look good lol

You might want to add another bracket on the link, it's broken as is, but i'm sure people will have enough common sense to add the bracket themselves, lol.

I aswell saw the word "tiger" in the IDA printout. However; I also saw that the private and public keys are both 16 bit. Tiger is not crypted in 16 bit code. The only possibility is a variation of tiger2, as it is closest to the MD5 format. Is Inspector gadget close? Did I just hear go, go gadget smoke screen?

they can use any size passphrase they want and it turns it into a 16 bit key

h = 16 bit key
(random 2000 chars here) = 16 bit key

its very complicated but take my word for it, we are hosed lol

read the link for more details on what i am talking about

DiRTY HARRY
i thought they only used it on there servers, i looked into this after finding references to it, and it was used for other call of duties aswel... also wouldnt to many forms of encryption/decryption running at the same time as the game itself be too cpu and ram intensive and require alot of memory for processing??

lol just re-read the initial post and i went off topic.
but back on to the way sony signs files, there's more hope at the moment of working that out then there is of decrypting the game files.
theres alot of people working on just cracking sony's coding, and with the new hypervisor dumps and being able to inspect the inner workings of the actual ps3 people are getting results.

The following 2 users say thank you to donny_boy1189 for this useful post:

I don't know if this'll help but I recently read that the Black Ops Key was a 16 byte key. Well I have done some research and have found that the DEFAULT Tiger RSA Key is 0000000000000000. The Black Ops Key MAY be different but it's worth trying this.

I do believe you mean the MD5 hashes are equivalent to 16 bytes which is 128 bits.

"bdHashMD5warn/hashmd5bdCrypto/bdHashMD5.cppMD5 hash only requires result buffer of 16 bytes. Remaineder of buffer will not be usedmd5err/Unable to create md5 hash of less than 16 bytes in length!.Unable to create hash.Unable to register hash"

And I got the .self file via Open Manager and backed up Black Ops and the files off of my FTP server. And for the record its retail and I use it as a reference.
