Black Ops is receiving a lot of hate from gamers who seemingly refuse to even try the game. Is there legit reasoning behind this hate or is this the fallout of the disappointment known as Modern Warfare 2? In what was surely one of the biggest hype campaigns of all time, we were told COD 6 would be the FPS to end all other FPS titles. Instead, come November we were met with COD 4.5 and it seemed even worse than COD 4 to many folks due to its balancing and hacking issues. Many gamers predicted MW2 would be like this, but most of their complaints and the signs they pointed out were ignored by the bigger crowds. Black Ops is selling great, don't doubt that. But it would seem that group of pre-release doubters has grown and saw fit to label Black Ops a terrible game, without even playing it.

The truth is Black Ops multiplayer does more right than it does wrong. Simply put, the game is great! With the new COD points and Wager matches in multiplayer it is clear there has been more thought put into this game than all the previous COD games combined.

From Sharpshooter where every player starts off with the same weapon and battles it out for points as everyone's weapon cycles at the same time to One in the Chamber where you get a pistol and a bullet. In One in the Chamber you must get a kill to get another bullet and there are only three lives for each person. Gun Game is another greatly designed Wager match that adds a lot of creativity to the title by challenging every player to start off with a pistol and work their way up a universal tier of weapons. Each kill you get bumps you up a notch to a new gun. They get better and better as you go but if you die you must start over.

For those who say Infinity Ward would have done a better job, simply put - you are insane. Take a look at the generic approach taken in the first Modern Warfare title and the incredibly dull follow up Modern Warfare 2 and I don't think it's hard to see that IW preferred coasting rather than setting goals for themselves and implementing additions to the COD brand.

The real issue I see with Call of Duty: Black Ops is that it should have gone even further with innovation. The problem with that is whenever gamers get used to a game, change of the formula is usually met with disdain by their fans. I think Treyarch has absolutely succeeded in bringing change to Black Ops without upsetting the style and fundamentals of the game, but rather improving it.

Just saying, Black Ops wouldn't be anywhere today without MW2 or IW. Also, please don't forget to reward me if I helped or informed you.

Especially seeing as the hacking that "ruined" mw2 made it possible to play Gun Game, One In the Chamber and such without the need of BO.

That is certainly true. Without hacking, the world would be shit. Have you ever played the campaign in MW2? The one mission with Burger Town and shit, well you have to use the laser to guide the BTR to shoot the enemies, IW got the idea from hacking in CoD4.

To both of you, that isn't hacking. It's modding. You're using codes to mod a game that you're playing slightly. Hacking is essentially challenge lobbies and such. You're just modding new game modes. Hacking is bad, modding is good. Hacking ruined MW2 not modding. There's already hacks in BO but nobody has released them and people are already modding it which is fine by me, plus the 'custom game' modes in community on your playercard has such deep customisation I think a lot of small time modders would be content with that anyway

Patching isn't something done in a day. Microsoft and Sony both do their own testing to the paths to make sure they work plus patches cost the companies money not only to make but to distribute. Sorry IW couldn't patch something that bothered you but it isn't possible to realize a patch every two days.

Plus Sony has to approve IW's patch if they even thought about patching something. With the Challenge Lobby's Sony patched the actually part that let people make challenge lobbies which was jb.

Black Ops sucks dick; its a badly made game. The frame rate in-game is all over the place, feels like im lagging constantly even though i know for a fact my connection if fine for FPS because i could play MW2 for a full day without any major cock ups. On this game i get kicked at the end of every game saying "Disconnected due to server transmission error" and then it shows my rank as 1 and cant access leaderboards, stats etc. I'm not saying the concept of the game is bad because when it's actually working i prefer it over mw2 its just getting to that point where i hate playing it because over around 5 hours im getting into a couple of games where i can play without any issues

I wonder if there would even be any of these FPS wars between IW and Treyarch if these games werent ever exploited or if there wasnt a glitch that annoyed everyone..

Yes they do have to approve the patches and the testing they do is to make sure it can't be exploited by hackers to do something or if it doesn't screw the PS3/360 itself or something.

Yep. Overall MW2 could've been 10/10 IF IW payed attention to the game and players didn't constantly exploit the glitches. (Everybody has done it. i.e n00b tubes.)
