It is based off a real weapon belive it or not.
In a book by Rudolf Lusar called
The German Weapons and Secret Weapons of World War Two and Their Development, a weapon very similar to this one is described. It was said to shatter wooden boards at a range of 200 yards by using jets of compressed air. It was also ready to use at an engagement at a bridge over the Elbe in 1945, but was not actually used.
(Wither this is completly true we will probly never know.)
The same goes for the Wunderwaffe DG-2.
The Nazis actually had plans to build this weapon in real life. However, the technology was not available and by 1944, with the Soviets and the Allies pushing in, resources for it were virtually non-existent.
(this does not mean it would have used element 115 in real life.)
As for the name DG, it could stand for "Die Glocke" ("The Bell") that was designated as the original Wunderwaffe in a secret research facility also called Der Riese, in the real Nazi Germany. This would make sense, since it's the DG-2 or the Die Glocke 2.
