(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); hey guys think ive discovered how to mod blackops .self. hunter proved the end part of my method and im 80% sure that my method is correct. i havent tested it as i dont have the time. But its good to feel the me (a 14 y/o) Got it... Happy

well here we goo. so first we start of buy un-selfing the .self. so basically .self to .elf. this .elf is the same as a debug.self (Decompressed/Decrypted). from there we want to open up our IDA and use Schaos modding tut to change our values in HxD. once modded save the file in HxD and then we are goign to use Geohots tools to re compress. i think the command line is something like this: "make_self_npdrm.exe eboot.elf EBOOT.BIN"

thats for the eboot.bin - but we can also use that same command line for .self/.elf not sure if that command line is right as i havent tested.
but what the make_self_npdrm.exe does is it recompress and re-encrypt's making our newly modded .elf into a .self

Well that all ive got for u guys. like i said its not really a detailed tut as its for experienced modders only.

We DO NOT have the NPDRM decryption key, so therefor you cannot decrypt a game update (such as 1.05). Don't ask anyone for it, since no one will give it to you, don't search for it, because you won't find it. Only people I know who have it is team fail0verflow and geohot. And they're not releasing it.

Yes, you can decrypt a debug patch, yes you can decrypt a EBOOT.BIN from the disk, but that's because they're not compressed+signed with NPDRM.

So think before you talk, little child.

Well yes. But you are probably not going to get that.. Also if I can reverse the npdrm process, then I could just decompress and decrypt the retail selfs. Which would be the easiest thing. But we could just install the whole 1.02 patch and bypass. But then we couldn't host anything unless others were bypassed. But I can't reverse the process until I have the key for npdrm which only geohot and a few others have, and i would have to become more competent in zlib and encrypting. So if someone else does, then I could take any npdrm and make it pretty much a debug elf. Which then can be modded and recompiled into a npdrm self. Or if the program makes it a debug self. Then you could just mod it and unself it. and then npdrm it...

and the tut said .self to .elf so in other words it is possible :S


You do realize that those selfs arent npdrm.. They are on the disk and are from the backup, not the patch..

Well I have a 1.02 debug that was npdrm'ed to the right and a regular 1.05 retail to the left.. Take a look at the file size differences.. Why are they like that!?!?!

Must not be done right.
I signed a debug one and it went to roughly 6.5 MB.

Well what did I do wrong? Look at my file size of my elf... I just npdrm'ed it. How could I have possibly screwed that up..
