Would anyone actually want to see a tactical guide to camping? I mean, I just laughed when I saw this, not just at the fact that it's a guide to camping but also the content within the guide itself. It's barely one page long for a start. There is only one suggested weapon layout and one killstreak layout, basically his way of camping. This is where I got to thinking....

What actually motivates someone to "camp" when playing call of duty?

In my head, I boiled it down to a few reasons:

1: Your not very good.
Everywhere you go you seem to die, so staying in a corner looks like a good option.

[ In fact, the more practice you get, the more skill you gain. You wont make much progress by not pushing your own limits ]

2: You and your team are trapped in your spawn area.
You dont want to go out in the open and get killed.

[ In fact, unless you are not fighting back, all you have to really do is get a few kills and push forward a little each time. Using ghost won't stop you being found if you commit yourself to an area and flack jacket only protects against explosions, players have guns too ]

3: You want killstreak rewards or a high K/D ratio.
But your not willing to go far to get them.

[ In fact, you are more likely to have less killstreak rewards by camping unless you are skilled, if so, you don't need to be camping ]

Now this applies to many people I know,

4: You got skill but camping is easier.
This way you just let your enemy keep coming back to find you so you get an easy and fast killstreak reward.

[ In fact, unless you have the whole team coming at you, bigger and better rewards can be achieved by being active in more than one area ]

To a certain extent the term "camping" is often misinterpreted and used as an excuse or even as an insult. In which case, what is or where is the clear definition of the term, in relation to call of duty? But beside that, if all 12 players in the game are running around grenade spamming, doing 360's and what not, you would probably complain about that too.

Imo, the game is generally quite balanced between rushers and campers. I like those un-skilled ones, it's easy picking, if he's skilled then prove your worth and flush him out. It's a game after all, but the basic tactics used by campers stems from real life. What? you think the army doesn't camp? that's where the term is from and I can't stress this next fact enough, camping is kind of part of the game wether you frown upon it or not. You may think its cheap or lame but the game is about war, war has never been about having a fair fight has it?

But what do you think? Is it sad? does it help you out? does it even bother you?

I think most are a little guilty of a bit of camping.........

I don't understand campers. Why pay £40 for a game so you can just sit in one room? Why not just do it in real life?

Never had a prob dealing with campers, only thing i hate is how much it can slow the game down when hunting.

But countless times I hear ppl rage after getting killed by a rusher, only to shout "F*****KIN CAMPERRRRS".............. seriously if thats what COD is about now then I'm aff it for a while.....

also theres a tactic for dealing with Battlefield campers, its called blowing the f**k out of there surroundings..... well what do you know, no corner camping anymore.:420:

I think in an objective based game such as Hardcore Search & Destroy, you do what you have to in order to win. I don't care about K/D as most of the online community does. What I care about it W/L. My team wins, I am happy going 1-6 on S&. We win, we win.

My team is on offense, you are on defense. We have 2 minutes to plant the bomb (I think). Tell me, if our objective overall is to win the game, we must (a) plant the bomb (b) defend it from being defused. Is it my teams fault you guys are so into rushing that you come into our spawn and get shot within the first 17 seconds of the match? I laugh at that. Call it camping all you want. If my team shoots you because you blitz through Summit like some baboon hellbent on destruction, only to catch a bullet in your eye, quit your yappin.

Now, my team on defense, you are on offense. Why on earth would you rush into the defense's spawn? WTF? All we have to do is what the bomb plant. Nothing else. Our objective is to (a) stop you from planting (b) if planted, defuse bomb. It says nothing on my screen about "rush to opponents spawn site as fast as possible". Its "SEARCH" and Destroy. Not "RUSH BLINDLY" and Destroy.

I have always viewed HC S& as a mini map inside. The two bomb plants are the mini area. one side stays the defense, one the offense until either has the upper hand. All about being tactical in my eyes.

Don't get me wrong, I have seen some very good rushers come in and wipe the floor. Mostly though, they get picked off because they are trying to get the jump on someone. Call it camping, whatever. You have one life a round in that. If you want to respawn, play a respawn game.

That is my only issue in any mode.

Either way, I still juke.

Legit Campers arent an issue.... One match I rushed into a Spawn and got a quad kill with AUG and ended game 50-7... They didnt accuse me of camping... I was called a "TRY HARD".

So even if you dont camp people make excuses.

FPS games will feature camping

NFL games will feature Play Action passes

NBA games will feature dunking.

It is YOUR job to counter. If you cant, play offline and complain about CPU cheating.

Half these bums use EASY 2 Kill Spy Planes running blindly and getting killed.


PS, if you use 2nd Chance DONT COMPLAIN ABOUT ANY TACTIC

oh man i hate when two dudes are camping with ghost and second chance pro together. one little room with 2 dudes just waiting to revive each other. such a mess

Let me say there is a huge difference between camping and strategically holding down a area. I will on CTF stay around my flag. I do not post up in a corner but run around the area looking for people to shoot. I watch all the usual spots people come in from and try to communicate enemy movements and rush patterns to teammates.(BTW I usually rush but if no one is defending I. Will do it) so call me a camper but I think there is a huge difference between what I do sometimes and sitting behind a claymor in a bush with ghost on waiting for someone to come around the corner.

its just piss's every1 off and is too boring so why do it....
