(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); What a waste of effort by Infinity Ward... a whole new update to fix what.. just a smple care package problem.

Infinty Ward... if you're reading this... you have much bigger fish to fry in terms of issues/problems with your game.

There are many many problems to sort out in regards to getting into MP games and then staying in them. It's at the point now where you are lucky to get into a game you want, stay in it for the whole duration without being kicked out due to many different ridiculous reasons such as memory errors, server timeouts, failing host migrations, buffer overruns etc.

Also, the invite system is crap compared to COD4. In MW2... it takes 5-6 key strokes to invite someone. Join session is also useless as you end up on the wrong side than your mates or 1-10 down, i.e. losing badly.

Host migration doesn't work all the time as reecenltly, it has been terrible. I have a win ratio of 3.0 and 90% of the games I lose.. are MW2 kicking me out during or the host leaving and migration failing. Also .. when you use the 'join session' option, you are sometimes placed into games where there are only seconds left... the other day I joined one where the NUKE had already been activated by the other team!! For many non-USA players, you also end up in games where all your team has a red-dot.

The following suggestions are for the PS3 version of theg ame although.. I assume they are relevant for other consoles.

1. show the green/orange/red connectivity bars in the lobby before the game begins. This way people can foresee their connectivity issues and choose to find another game if required
2. show you who the host is before the game begins
3a. before it puts you in a game, whether you "join session" or search for a game and end up joining one in progress, it should give you the choice of joining after showing you the current score and which side you would be on
3b. if you can't fix the above.. then only allow someone to join a session where there is room on your friends side.. not the opposition
4. fix all the errors with migration.. only 50% of migrations are working at the moment
5. fix all the 'out of memory' errors the PS3s are experiencing. Many mates have reported this to me including my own machine many many times. Especially when you are hosting and the game is loading.. this is where you get most 'Out of memory' errors
6a. change the invite system back to COD 4 style but leave the "join session" option in place. They can remove the "add friend" option if it helps.
6b. if this can't be done... then at a minimum, take out the option to change the invitation text when inviting someone.... NO-ONE changes the text in the invite but it means another 3 button you need to press before the invite is sent
6c. if this can't be done... then keep the inviter in the PSN friends list until he finishes inviting...so he can invite others without having to hit 'invite' in the MW2 game for each player
7. fix the other countless errors that come up in the middle of a game that kick you out, i.e. 'count errors', 'annimation index range' erros for example
8. do not record a loss for the player if the player is kicked out due to errors or hosting issues. Only give a loss if the appropriate exit sequence of buttons has been pressed by the player and the 'loss warning screen' appears before a player leaves a game
9. do not allow players to join games where they will be one red dot of connectivity.. give them the choice at least
10. take into account the mix of players in a lobby before choosing a host. For example, if there are 11 Australians in a room and one USA player.. do not give the host the the USA. Give the host to the best connected player within the majority of a group in the lobby. The decision by IW to give the host to the best connected player is backfiring on many occasions. Remember... there are 11 other payers in the lobby who may all be close to each other and have similar connections far away from the IW server which determines who is best. Many times.. there have been 11 red dots to one single full green bar player in a 12 player match
11. fix the problem of people joining private matches. It's so irritating to try to have a private match and people join continually
12. allow the lobby leader to kick any participant in their lobby before looking for a public game, regardless of who invited them in or how they got there. At the moment, the lobby leader needs to go into the private match section to kick someone and then back out again before looking for a public game with his chosen group
13. many times.. you create a lobby with 6 mates.. then search for a game find one only to lose a mate or two. Then you have to re-group and start searching again
14. many times.. you create a lobby with 6 mates.. then search for a game, go into the main game lobby where the selected map is shown (where so far you or the best connected player in your group is host), only to be merged with another lobby (where the map changes) consisting of one person AND then, this one person gets the host.
15. Many times, a group of 6 mates will be in a lobby waiting for other players to join when 3-4 of them are moved into another lobby and the game starts straight away. The other 2-3 mates are left stranded. IW.. you can not separate players within groups.
16. After the 1.09 patch last night... 12 of us in a public lobby seperated into two games when the 'match' began.. 3 players into one game (1 vs 2) and 9 (5 vs 4) into another. The map was as indicated, i.e. the same map for both games but the games were separate.

IW.. please.. listen to your gamers. A lot of us have nearly had enough with the issues above anda re already talking about a mass migration to MAG or Battlefield.

IW... if you were to release new MAPs right now... I think you'd get a shock at how many of us would not buy them this time round compared to COD 4.

I will not be buying the maps for this game for a lot of the listed reasons. I am lucky to play the game once a week. The only reason I do that is to play with friends that don't play any other game.

Why do you use the in game invite system anyways? I just go to my friends list and invite all my friends from that or go into the party and click "Invite party to game."

I know PS3 is a little different, I don't think you have parties, but they must have a friends list where you can press a button and invite someone from it?

The bad hosts and randomly losing friends or being sent back to the menu does happen and it is annoying :( Host migration occasionally fails 1/10 times probably for me.

Why do you even care about your win/loss anyways? My W/L is like .50 on my new account because I don't care and leave a lot of games. All I care about is my K/D.

My main issue is the spawning system
1) Enemy team has a Gunner chopper at Wasteland, when we die we spawn in a group with the gunner chopper hovering above us ready to pounce, same with AC130.
2)When you get re-spawned in near enough the same place as you died (no tactical insertion) and you die instantly by the same person.
3)The stupid sabotage spawn killers, these irritate me the most. Ok, when your team is getting raped and your by your base, they have the bomb but wont plant it. The enemy team will just constantly kill you as you spawn near enough in their sight, time and time again.

I agree on most of those points and will be emailing IW, hopefully one of us gets a response. Smile

iTzZTrAvIs...., let me try to address your points.

a) PS3 doesn't have parties. For me to invite someone.. I need to do the following.
1. From the lobby or main game screen, I press on 'invite' OR I press the PS button on the controller. Both ways get me to the PSN friends list
2. I then have to scroll through ALL my friends online, no matter what they are playing and select one that shows as playing MW2
3. I then have to press the Y button to bring up the sub menu for that friend
4. i then have to scroll down to the option 'invite to game'
5. After pressing X (enter).. another screen comes up asking you to edit/modify the invite (which nobody ever does)
6. I then have to press down a few times to get to the enter/send option on the screen
7. I then press enter to send the request and it takes me back to the MW2 main lobby area
8. To invite another friend.. I need to do the whole procedure above.. up to 6 times to fill my lobby before looking for a public game

Bottom line... for each friend.. it takes a minimum 8 taps/button presses PLUS the number of times you have to hit down/up to find them in your PSN friends list.

You mention win ratio. I have a post entirely devoted to win ratio vs KDR. I'm very passionate about the subject so I encourage you to read the post. A copy of it is shown below....

__________________________________________________

There is an interesting debate about a good KDR vs a good win ratio.

For the record.. I am in Australia, play MW2 on the PS3 only and host 50% of the games I play. I play CTF mainly with a group of 8-10 consistent mates all knowing whether they are defenders or runners. I am a runner and have 1000 of the 'most flags captured' accolade.

And not to be transparent.. I have a terrible KDR but one of the best win ratios. My KDR is 0.77 but my win ratio is 3.03.

Now.. the question begs... which is more important.. KDR or win ratio. Obviously to me.. the win ratio is... and let me try to explain why.

There is only one game in MW2 and COD4 where the person with the highest KDR wins the game... and that game is 1on1 Cage Match. No other game including TDM (Team Death Match) and FFA (Free For All) will guarantee the person with the highest KDR a win.

So it comes down to why we choose the games we do and why do we play to begin with? If we choose CTF (Capture the Flag), then the objective of the game is to capture more flags than the opposition.. regardless of how often you are killed. In Domination.. the objective is to sit on and defend more flags for longer than the opposition.. again, no relevance to number of deaths or kills.

You see the trend and my point?

Every game has an objective and the only game where the objective is to have the highest KDR.. is a 1on1 Cage Match. Even in TDM or Free for All... you could have a 10-1 kills/deaths which will give you a KDR of 10.0.. but you can still lose the game because the guy on the other side has a 30-5 kills/death (i.e. a lower KDR of 6.0). So how can a lower KDR player beat a higher KDR player.. answer, very easily as in TDM the winner is the team with the most kills at the end of the time limit (or the first to 7500 etc.). It is not the team with the highest KDR player or KDR average. Likewise for Free for All.

The analogy is why do we play team competition sport like soccer, basketball, football etc. We play as a team and we play to win.. to collectively out-score the competition in the time period given. We don't walk onto a Soccer field and say "I don't mind if I lose this.. as long as I kick the most goals". We don't walk onto a basketball court and say "I hope I score more goals than my team mates...". We go onto these fields and courts hoping to win the game... and off-course, while we are winning, to improve our personal bests or personal records.

How do you think your team mates would feel.. if in sport you went into a game with no intention or care of winning... but rather, to just outscore your mates or anyone on the other side. Your mates would be pissed and probably would not let you play.

Same with MW2. Your team mates would not want you on their team if you did not have winning as your main priority. You would not be welcome in any team if they knew all you cared about was your KDR. Gamers want to play with players who intend to win.. and will do what it takes in the game to do so.

I have played with so many people in CTF matches or Domination where a teammate (someone I don't know) lets the flag runner run straight past them.. fearing they would be shot themselves if they stepped out to take them one. I know as a flag runner myself.. I'm more than likely going to get shot 3 out of 4 times trying to grab the flag.. but that's my job and what my team mates also expect. I have played with players who in Domination.. will never go near a flag, for fear of getting killed.

So for me.. we play to win and we do what's needed in the game to do so. If I'm not out there capturing flags or sitting on flags gaining posts.. then I am letting my team mates down. I pride myself on a 3.02 win ratio.. it took a lot of hard work especially when 90% of the matches I lose are due to MW2 or PS3 hosting/memory/server timeout/host migration failures/player out of range issues.. etc. where I am kicked out of the game.

For those KDR players out there... consider the people you are playing with and think of the following typical scenario ...

Peter --> "Jimmy, mate.... great game! Did you see my KDR 6.0. It's been going up all day mate. ."
Jimmy --> "We lost bud... how can you be happy with that!. You also let that flag runner run straight past you and you didn't engage him"
Peter --> "Mate, there were too many of the opposition around him... but my KDR has improved by 0.3pts today. I'm on fire!"
Jimmy --> "Pete... we haven't won a game all bloody day. I'm going to play with someone else mate.. someone who might actually have winning the game with me as a priority. It's bloody embarrassing bud".

Some food for thought.

Smile Mate good post by they way and dont mean to be rude cos most of the stuff you said is correct and i agree but think about this comment you write :

3a. before it puts you in a game, whether you "join session" or search for a game and end up joining one in progress, it should give you the choice of joining after showing you the current score and which side you would be on

Just seeing current score and which side could potentially lead to peeps getting win streaks unfairly Winky Winky - just my opinion. still would be a good idea thou! Happy

cant the completely remove the split screen load hack or block it somehow - i would really like to see how many people genuinely have reach 10th level 70 without cheating! Smile
