oh as some people get dazzles as they do not play in HD, then in your case there are no capture cards that use HDMI due to some copyright or whatever, so search on how to play on HD while capturing.

Avermedia HD PVR is 70 dollars, but you need a high powered computer for it to work, it goes into your computer on the PCI slots.

Why do people say get an HD PVR, there is a lot of different types of HD PVRs...

With the Avermedia capture card, I can play on my computer screen and record using a program called Fraps which records what is showing on my screen. So I can get around the HDCP and record and play in HDMI.

1. Maybe because thats the only one they know?
2. Maybe that was an suggestion, and they didn't said it was the "only one"?
3. That's a good HD cap, and a well known HD cap

Hmm I would so buy one of those as your vid quality is quite good but I dont play on an HD TV, I play on an SD, so that would be a waste for me.

I am speaking as an owner of an Hauppauge HD PVR so here are some things you should know.
1. Prices start from £150/210$(yes it's expensive, but you get what you pay for).
2. Once you can record, don't turn your HD PVR off. Or it will take a while to get the resolutions back and you'll find yourself constantly restarting said HD PVR and PS3 until you get a signal again.
3. The program that comes with it, Total Media Extreme, is a joy to record with. Extremely simple and works very well.
4. It records in .TS which is very space consuming, so make sure you have about 50GB of space to spare.
5. Hauppauge and Arcsoft's customer support centers(email) are very responsive. Within 24 hours for me.
6. When you start recording, change your Bit Rate from (default) to 8.0MB to save space at the cost of very minimal quality difference.
7. You don't play through HDMI cables you play through HD Component cables, so you're only capable of playing in 720p.
8. When all of the above is sorted, you're going to want to find some good render settings for Sony Vegas(w/o rendering in Vegas, quality FAILS). I recommend JX23's.

Hope I helped! Happy

My parents said I might get a super nice fancy tv next christmas but I am wondering now if I buy one of these over the summer when I have money so I have it, does the stuff come with the codec for the .ts so you can convert it to something smaller?

You don't play on your TV, you play on your computer. It is a separate window that you can maximize or minimize.

Stop trying to act like a smart ass dude. He asked for an HD capture card in the OP and some people are just replying HD PVR is the best!!! Well what HD PVR are they talking about? The OP already said he wanted one. . .he is asking for the best card to buy, he knows that there are cards in HD. The only guy who actually helped him was Bellis.

ok, so i have a new question. i am still using my cap card even though the quality of gameplay has gone down, but when i record, my computer keeps freezing and i have to restart it. i dont think its my comp because i have 2.4 dual core, 2 gig of ram, and a GeForce 9800 graphics card, which should be more than enough to run the dazzle recording program. so, do you guys have any ideas of why it keeps freezing on me?

Codec comes with it I believe when you install the HD-PVR drivers. Also the idea is that you render it out in Vegas for good quality, if you don't do that and/or you convert it before rendering, the quality will end up like a Dazzle.
If you're put off by the rendering because you can't afford Vegas, it's as simple as a trial and keygen Winky Winky
