(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Internet speed seems to have such an impact on my play on MW2.

I have Comcast broadband premium service package with a guarantee of
10 MBPS download speed. I had to upgrade my service from standard package of 6MBPS becasue I could not kill anyone the first month the game came out. If my speed drops below 15 MBPS I don't even feel like playing.
I'm hardwired from my router to my game system ( PS3 ).
I test my connection on You must login or register to view this content. and generally run at downloads around 20 MBPS with upload speeds around 1.5 to 2 MBPS. Depending on the time of day or night, download speeds can increase to 30 MBPS.

There is a noticable difference in game speed when this happens.
Although there is still the problem of who is host.
I can have a good speed running and still get 3 bars during a game.
There is a major difference in game play between 3 and 4 green bars for me.

My question is what is the average internet connection speed that people have during game play?
How do you test your speed ? does anyone even bother to test?
Do other people find a major difference in game play between 2,3,or 4 green bars?
How can people with 1 red or 2 yellow bars kill anyone at all ?
I've been in games where someone went 35/5 KD with a red bar and were not the host.

WHAT SPEED DO YOU HAVE?
Are there any tips on boosting connections speeds?

When I have 3 or less bars it effects my game alot. plus that guy u seen with 1 bar that was doing good was probably doing that on purpose. They do that so they glitch on your screen but not on theirs.

Im not to sure on this but I think the ping is how long it takes for them to respond to your internet.

Basically, ping is the amount of time that packets (of your info) take to go to the host and back.

Faster Ping Time = Faster Response Time = Less Lag (in theory)

Sometimes you can see something like "Searching for games <50ms" which means it is looking for the faster ping time games.

You gotta be kidding me. Here's some guy complaining about having less than 15MB/s, my Internet speed is less than 150 KB/s sometimes and, at most, 300 KB/s and I do fine. I barely ever lag unless I'm connecting to a US server

Ultra teir on Comcast in my area costs $65/month. I usually find games in mw2 under 50/60s ping. Also, in general you need decent download and upload speed, and other network activity on the router will impact your game play depending on your overall internet speed, and others using the internet. Back when I was on at&t dsl, it would run decently until someone on the laptop would load a youtube video then the connection went to shit. I'd recommend anything above 10mbit/sec download with at least 2-3mbit/sec upload for optimal gaming experience with as little lag as possible. The only time I ever have lag on mw2 is when people use lag switches.

I must have a dang good connection because my connection has toasted everyone elses and I have full bars all the time unless host is lagging. for the most part I never lag unless I get into some ground war.
