(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Internet speed seems to have such an impact on my play on MW2.

I have Comcast broadband premium service package with a guarantee of
10 MBPS download speed. I had to upgrade my service from standard package of 6MBPS becasue I could not kill anyone the first month the game came out. If my speed drops below 15 MBPS I don't even feel like playing.
I'm hardwired from my router to my game system ( PS3 ).
I test my connection on You must login or register to view this content. and generally run at downloads around 20 MBPS with upload speeds around 1.5 to 2 MBPS. Depending on the time of day or night, download speeds can increase to 30 MBPS.

There is a noticable difference in game speed when this happens.
Although there is still the problem of who is host.
I can have a good speed running and still get 3 bars during a game.
There is a major difference in game play between 3 and 4 green bars for me.

My question is what is the average internet connection speed that people have during game play?
How do you test your speed ? does anyone even bother to test?
Do other people find a major difference in game play between 2,3,or 4 green bars?
How can people with 1 red or 2 yellow bars kill anyone at all ?
I've been in games where someone went 35/5 KD with a red bar and were not the host.

WHAT SPEED DO YOU HAVE?
Are there any tips on boosting connections speeds?

at night i usually have 1 red bar. it sucks. theres a second or two delay when you shoot till the bullet hits. i still do pretty decent though, just can't run around like a mad man or i'll get slaughtered. playing hardcore makes it easier too.

Eh, $50 a month dial up that is to you sir. And really NO ONE hear should be complaining unless you get legit slower, 30kb/s is on a FANTASTIC day, two days ago the max I got was 15kb, I couldn't even connect to a lobby.

Do a barrel roll!
Since no one has pointed this out, as long as you have a Download speed of at least 1.5Mbps, your fine. This is because the game is optimized for slower uploads, which dictate how fast the game info downloads. For example, if the host has an upload speed of 1Mbps, then it is impossible for you to download any faster than that from him. Most people have about 1Mbps or less upload speed, so it doesn't matter if you have 10 or 100 or 1000 Mbps.

What does matter, however, is ping. This is the time it takes for the signal to travel from the host to you. Thats what the bars represent. As any PC gamer knows, ping is the most important thing for quality online FPSes.

I believe that 4 bars means you have a ping of 100ms or less to the host, which is pretty bad. 3 bars is like 200-300ms, which is terrible.

So the question should be "What is your ping time (For people who have a download speed of at least 1.5Mbps)?"
