What you need to do is simply unplug your Ethernet cable from the back of your PS3. If you do not have an Ethernet cable in your PS3 and you are wireless you can just quit the game while in the match and leave to the XMB screen.
If you are on XBOX360 you can pull out your Ethernet cord or dashboard.

I know a lot of you knew this, but I'm sure some people just never thought of it.

The sign out then in method doesn't work. IW patched that in MW2 because everyone done it in cod5, cod4.

you sign out before the game ends. it takes a while for you to drop out of the game

No because when you sign out then in before the game ends you haven't left the game, you are still there.

you dont sign back in till you have ben disconnected witch does take a while

sumbody isnt very bright, sign out while match is goin and WAIT till it "kicks" u off....its called timing out
