Erm... on ps3news, hunter had say he didn't find the dummy file of the ENCRYPT part in the 3.30 firmware, and I have found it easily, so PS3 HDD Studio works with the 3.30 firmware!

And i found 2 crypted .ff files in the HDD image: dlc1_ui_mp.ff and patch_mp.ff (these 2 files start with "IWffu100") but i don't find how to decrypt it! :(

Ahaa, Hunter mentioned about files with IWffu100 You must login or register to view this content.

So when i decrypted the dummy file i was browsing through looking for the patch and i see this patch_mp.ff...patch.ff....patch_ui_mp.ff....patch_ ui.ff default.ff

So i scrolled down a little way and i happend to see these 12 bytes IWffu100...ƒ

I'm guessing the letters stand for Infinite Ward Fast File then u100 is something else related lol.

This is where Hunter used the Fast File Tool to decompress the .ff patches, I couldn't completely gather how to re-compress the files, but if you read the rest of the thread, someone managed to perform re-compression of the patches.

I think this was the wall you hit with 3.30, but looking at the date of the post, I'm unsure. :/

I am by no means a complete idiot when it comes to computers, but that tutorial makes me wonder, what the hell is this saying? And as if it is just pure nonsense to mess with people who don't know any better. Since it seems incredibly vague, yet detailed at the same time.

Well sorry if someone has already told u this but i had the problem of not seeing it 2. Right click "PS3 Hdd Studio v2.08.exe" and select run as administrator. Thats what fixed my problem because i am running Windows 7. Hope i helped in some way

Would an ethernet crossover cable work for this? If not, what should I be looking for?

No an ethernet crossover cable would not work, you need a 2.5" Sata Cable to connect your ps3 hdd to your pc.
