If your PS3 has firmware 3.30 or above you can't do the lobby.
After reading another 3000 page's LOL I found this quote from the Unkn0wn...

Real hackers will stay on the firmware 3.21 thats what I'm on and I'm not upgrading.. On that you can use Linux so hackers be warned

After thinking about it a while I though maybe just maybe you need this to do the hack?

Get the data from the 3.30 or below, Decrypt it and do the editing you need to do.
Now put the data back onto your PS3 with firmware 3.30.

In settings > system > Transfer data.
You can send data from one PS3 to another.
So send this from the firmware 3.30 to another PS3 with the latest firmware so you can go online.

That's just my theory.
Hate it or love it, But don't forget I may be wrong !

And don't wear it out.
Checksums are always bypassable.

Well no matter what, even if their method of hacking got patched long ago, somebody's going to end up finding a new way.

I don't think you need to do the highlighted part

I believe you need it all edited on the 3.15 first

I think data transfer utility was added on the 3.21 update... and not only that but the PS3s have to be on the same firmware to use data transfer utility

Hunter posted on PS3News asking how to find dummy files on 3.30 because *he needed 3.30 to play online*, that might be one way transfering HDD's but it's possible on 3.30.
