From what I know, you have to have two ps3's one on a lower fw and one on the up-to-date one. This is due to Sony making the dummy file spread all over the place in the up-to-date one. And from what I understand you then put the lower fw hacked hdd onto the higher fw. Now this is what I don't understand. If we are using a lower fw because the hacking is already patched on the higher fw, than how is it supposed to get patched. What are they supposed to patch?

Good thinking... Maybe though. Their just saying that. I personally think you can do th hack on any firmware.... Unless their just using that as an excuse not to release.

No you have to use a fw on 3.15 or lower to be able to find the dummy file. This is why you need two ps3's

what kind of dummy? because when u do the HDD decryption you put a Dummy on the ps3....?

A dummy file which helps the program decrypt all the information on the hdd.

you sure about that, think you'll find quite a few people disagree. Dummy file is easy to find on 3.40 and 3.30

Yes, I am almost positive. First off because when I have tried it myself, along with some other people on this sight, the dummy has been spread all throughout the hdd. Making it almost impossible to decrypt. Second, Why else would you need two ps3's and one on a lower fw?

Decrypt is not the method, and yes you can find the dummy on 3.40, i found out and like 10+ people i know found it, don't tell me that, and the reason decrypt is not the method is cause of checksummed a guy i know broke 2 ps3's cause of checksum.
