From what I know, you have to have two ps3's one on a lower fw and one on the up-to-date one. This is due to Sony making the dummy file spread all over the place in the up-to-date one. And from what I understand you then put the lower fw hacked hdd onto the higher fw. Now this is what I don't understand. If we are using a lower fw because the hacking is already patched on the higher fw, than how is it supposed to get patched. What are they supposed to patch?

Well if it is due to the checksum then what we have been told by TheUnknown is a bunch of lies. The checksum has nothing to do with Sony, which means that sony wouldn't be able to patch it.

you can decrypt on 3.30 and 3.40 on fats, not slims, ive tried both, on slims you cant find the dummy but on fats you still can. but either way it wont get you anywhere

slim is just very well hidden that's all

Doesn't matter if sony can patch checksum or not, decrypting the hdd is not the way it's only for w.a.w

it probably has to do with the hard drive so you can extract the patch so they dont want it to get patched but they might not be able to on the new fw bc of the removal of the other OS, but if sony finds out they could change the location of the files. I only believe this because hunter hacked W@W and CoD4 on the current patch, unless hes hex editing the patches..

but on any firmware theres still the checksums, and i dont think the other os has anything to do with that but ive been wrong before

What I can get from all of Hunter128's quotes, and from helping him a bit too (yea I regret it), He decrypted the hdd and modded it for a day, then his hdd broke and he had to try it with his backup, which ended up working. What happened to his hdd was that he had put way to many codes in at once creating a big change and the hdd just got over worked. Also, why would he use different methods if his first was successful?

You can't be positive for the fact of no one knows how they are doing it so it is "impossible" to know you need to decrypt the hdd.

If you think it is 2 PS3.. Possible... BUT TRY IT! "Stop posting it". Can't get 2 ps3, then don't speak. Because we have heard this already.
I have tried the 2 ps3 way. Guess what "Didn't work".

Only method on this site I have seen, that I have not tried is modifing the "Game save" file. I have not checked into this Yet.

so you are trying to say that this post is about a way to mod it? No, And I was the one that came up with the idea of modding the gamesave, so don't say that I just repost other theory's. I also proved that theory to be wrong. This is because Hunter128 modded cod5 first. Have you seen the cod5 gamesave? I still am trying to decrypt it.
