(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey everyone this method may or may not but if I don't post it soon i'll blow up.

Can you not just put the patch_mp.ff into a .ZIP file (uncompressed) and change the extension to PKG, then block MW2 from downloading the patch_mp.ff from their own server, by using Anon Proxy Server. Then the ps3 will download the PKG from their own servers but blocking the patch_mp.ff from download from their servers and downloading the patch_mp.ff from your own?

Just a theory.

This is because there is write protection on it so if you change anything or do anything to the file which wasn't originally on there it fails.

Oh...f*uck.

Damn Sony did TOO good of a job protecting their system. :n:

PKG is not a ZIP, it is not compressed using the DEFLATE algorithm so this would never work, I bet Sony uses their own compression algorithm, plus we don't even know if it actually is compressed, could just be encrypted...

If you read my post properly I meant whenever you started up MW2 it would replace the .PKG with the other files but blocking the patch_mp from being replaced.

the only way they could have done it with either a test console (ps3 w/ debug f/w for 10.000 dollars) or a retail console w/ debug f/w

What your explaining right there is an example of a checksum and checksums can be spoofed and faked if someone got all the stuff right the reason it didn't work is because it wasn't signed by sony.

Headerblocks of the .PKG must remain true. Basically it matches certain bytes such as file size, etc. So yes, this is correct.
