If you are already on Original Firmware 3.55 skip to Step 2. If you are on Original Firmware 3.41 just continue reading and begin with Step 1.

Installing 3.55 CFW

Step 1a. Download the 3.55 firmware from HERE: You must login or register to view this content.

Step 1b. Put the downloaded PS3UPDAT.PUP on a USB drive that is FAT32 formatted in the following folder X:/PS3/UPDATE/¹
Step 1c. Boot your PS3 and go to Settings > System Update > Update by Storage Media
Step 1d. Follow the onscreen instructions, and check when done if you are on firmware 3.55
Step 2. Download the Peek & Poke patch(You must login or register to view this content.) and put it in a flash drive X:/PS3/UPDATE/¹
Step 3a. Put your PS3 in Recovery Mode
Step 3b. Do this by turning off your PS3
Step 3c. Hold the Power button untill PS3 boots and turns off again ( watch the red light )
Step 3d. Again hold the Power button and wait for 1 beep followed by 2 beeps and release button
Step 3e. Your PS3 will now boot in Recovery Mode with 6 options
Step 4. Select the 6th option in the menu (System Update)
Step 5. The onscreen instructions differ a bit from a regular system update, make sure your USB is in a USB slot. Connect a controller and push Select and Start at the same time. Your PS3 will now scan your USB for an applicable update.
Step 6. After the update your system will reboot and you will have Peek & Poke patch on your PS3.
Step 7. Now download Geohot’s 3.55 CFW(You must login or register to view this content.) and put it in a flash drive X:/PS3/UPDATE/¹
Step 8. Boot your PS3 and go to Settings > System Update > Update by Storage Media
Step 9. Follow the onscreen instructions, and after a reboot you will be on Geohot’s CFW. This can be checked by looking for the Install packages files folder under the Games Tab.

Installing the FTP server application to PS3

1. Start up your PlayStation 3
2. Download the blackb0x's PS3 FTP Server for geohot's 3.55 HERE and put it on the ROOT of a USB DRIVE! (Root= No Folders)
3. Go to install package files and you will see the FTP there then click and install.

Adding the Modded Patch

Also You will need install FileZilla click here to download
Lastly, a modded PS3 patch!! (Mw2)

Start FTP Server on your PS3 and leave it running
Once the PS3 FTP is started, go back to your PC and open FileZilla
On FileZilla, click "File -> Site Manager -> New Site"
Look at the IP Address on your PS3; this will be the "Host" for FileZilla
On FileZilla, the port you will use is 21
The username you will use is FTPD12345
The password you will use is blank (no password)
At the top of the configuration window on FileZilla, click "Transfer Settings"
Set the "Maxixum Simaultaneous Downloads" to 1
Click connect and you should be connected directly to your PS3's HDD.
Navigate to 'hdd0/game/BLUS30377/USRDIR/' and look for 'patch_mp.ff'
Simply drag and drop the modded patch that you downloaded from your PC to the location of the patch_mp.ff on Filezilla (hdd0/game/BLUS30377/USRDIR' and look for 'patch_mp.ff) and OVERWRITE it

4. Quit the FTP then Turn off your PS3 (using PS button, Turn Off System) then turn your PS3 back on and start up MW2
