(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have no idea what all these patches and codes are about that are on this forum, anyone care to elaborate?

I'm planning on modding my ps3 mw2 to just have some fun but I've been trying to look around for a thread that explains how all these patches and codes works. But I couldn't find one.

Help please? Smile

You do NOT need 3.55 to jailbreak.
You do NOT need to Jailbreak if you are clever.

So don't start telling people the only way is to jailbreak 3.55 if you have no idea.

/Flame over.

Well thank you for being a jerk. Id expect more from you than to be flaming.

Number one I did not say you could only use 3.55. Ill correct myself saying 3.55 OR UNDER.

Number two yes you can do it without jailbreak if youre smart but it takes more time and experience. I was simply giving him the simplest easiest answer.

So again thank you oh so much for the flame. Ive got respect for you as one of the best patch coders on this site but Ive been slowly losing it after seeing more and more useless flames like this on the site.

Hi just been reading some of your informative discussions to other people about upgrading and downgrading PS3 and jailbreaking....

I am in a slightly better position of having a jailbroken PS3 on Firmware v 3.41... Just wondering I was thinking of upgrading to take it online!!! But I'm slightly worried that I will lose my jailbreaking and access facilitiesWinky Winky

Question is there an easier option to take it online and not lose all this???? I only ask, as I have what I want on my other PS3 but don't want to lose access to my jailbroken PS3 to mod games and files etc??? i.e would be good to play around with Black Ops files etc... but obviously need upgrade and internet facilities!!!

Any ideas?? help greatly appreciated!!!

3.41 is fine you'll just need to find the jailbreak for that firmware version. I could help find it for you if that would help. Or are you already jailbroken on 3.41? If so then you are good to go.

Also on the subject of going online and not losing your Jailbreak... You can do DNS bypass that allows you to stay on your current 3.41 firmware and sign into PSN while Jailbroken. If you do not know how to do this then let me know and I will give you short simple guide to doing this.

Im happy to answer any questions you have so please feel free to ask.

Yes there is a thread You must login or register to view this content. on how to downgrade. Please read this if youd like more info on down grading as I have little experience with it. But some of the risk include losing game data and other memory or frying your hardware in general, depending on the method you use. The danger is involved because you literally have to brick or crash your system before you can downgrade your firmware. As I said read the guide and make your decision. Though there is risk involved many people have used the methods given in the forum I have provided the link to and been very successful. I myself would be willing to use that downgrade method if needed.

Im happy to answer any other questions so please feel free to ask.

I read the link there, it only says bricking and i don't even know what bricking is LOL. I'm like super noob at hacking / mobbing. Can you explain it a bit?

Well bricking means to crash your system. Once you crash your system you will need to start the system in recovery mode (this is explained in the walkthrough I provided the link for I do believe). Once you've done that you will need to have a copy of the firmware that you want/need (usually 3.55 also provided in the walkthrough I think. If not I can find it for you) placed on a USB memory stick. You will insert your memory stick into the playstation and select that firmware as the one you would like to reboot the system with. After this has been done you will need to do a DNS bypass to allow you to sign into PSN without having to download 3.56 again.

Please read the post in the link I previously provided earlier, because what I'm telling you here is a very basic explanation. I'm happy to help explain any unfamiliar terms to you or explain how to do the DNS bypass though.

The link you have provided state that an auto-bricker for v3.56 will be out 2/2/11 (which is today) should i wait for that?

You could if you are willing to wait. I wouldn't say that the auto bricker will be any safer but it will for sure be easier.
