I'd just like to say, some patches for Xbox don't work on PC, since the code doesn't sign with PC Nvidia core drivers, though Nvidia drivers for the gaming card are in Xbox. Stupid, I know but you might want to search up for a MW2 PC Syntax Checker, if in .ff viewer it's giving no errors.

Yes that's right! This is the newly updated version for how to test a MW2 patch, without the need of a JTAG. If you follow these simple steps correctly, you'll be well on your way.

So let's begin. :black:

First you are going to need alterIWnet which you can download from here:

And you will need some programs:

Starting:

In your Computer, go to, "My Computer" then go to your C:/ drive, and go to Program FilesYou must login or register to view this content.


In that make a folder called "Activision".

And inside that make a folder called "Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 2" and then extract all the downloaded files into it. You must login or register to view this content.


VERSION 1!

Make a new folder on your dekstop called "maps". Inside that make a folder called "mp".

And inside "mp" make a folder called "gametypes". You must login or register to view this content.

Inside "gametypes" make a new text document, and name it, "_missions.gsc". If it asks to change the file name extension, click yesYou must login or register to view this content.

Now, the next thing you will want to do, is have any patch_mp.ff

Open up .ff viewer (download links are up top) You must login or register to view this content.

Now click, "File", "Open FastFile".

And Navigate to the "patch_mp.ff" You must login or register to view this content.

Now go to _missions.gsc in the patch, press CTRL+A to select all, and then press CTRL+C to copy.

Remember that "_missions.gsc" we made in the "maps" folder? Find your "_missions.gsc" and press CTRL+V to paste in all of the text. Then click, "File" and "Save".

Now that done, we need to make a "mods" folder in the alterIWnet MW2 folder. So click "new" then "new folder" and add a new folder called "mods". You must login or register to view this content.

Still followed me? Well you're doing GREAT! Now things get a little bit tricky.

In the "mods" folder we need to make another folder called "MyPatch".

Now head back to the Desktop, and right click on your "maps" folder! And select; "Add to Archive". You must login or register to view this content.

Now call the file, "MyPatch.iwd" and make sure it is used as .zip compression. You must login or register to view this content.

Okay, so now head back to the "mods" folder, and open your "MyPatch" folder. Inside that, either copy+paster or drag in the "MyPatch.iwd". You must login or register to view this content.

Now, go back to big folder where all your AlterIWnet files are.

Click on "alterIWnet_configure.exe" and set a name for yourself. Colours are allowed! ^^

Now, you should have downloaded the config_mp.cfg file.

Place that in the "players" folder.

NOW WE'RE ALL READY!

Now things get quite tricky.

Click on "iw4mp.exe".

A console should come up, and shortly followed by the alterIW client. DO NOT CLICK ON THE CLIENT! If you do, just make sure you don't click "Play Online". Now, your probably going to be stuck in the window. Find a button on your Keyboard that has the windows logo. Press that, and now click on the console.

In the console (make sure you're still at the main menu where you can select Play Online") Type in this:.

fs_game mods/MyPatch;vid_restart You must login or register to view this content.

If done correctly, the console should re load, and the client will too.

Now, click "Play Online" and go into private match. In private match, select what map you want, what game mode, and what time limit+score limit, DO NOT CHANGE HEALTH OR ANYTHING ELSE!

Now click, "Start Match". Your client will freeze sometime varying between 3Seconds - 10Minutes. So I'd be prepared for boredom. Do not click on the client, even if it says it isn't responding, it is. It depends on what mods you have. More mods, longer waiting.

Eventually the game will VERY SLOWLY load up.

When it's finished loading, and you're eventually in, select a team, and CONGRTULATIONS! You're in your own modded lobby ^^. You must login or register to view this content.

VERSION 2!

In your MW2 older go to "zone". You must login or register to view this content.

Then "alter". You must login or register to view this content.

Now, you will see at the bottom something called "patch_mp.ff" You must login or register to view this content.

Select what patch you want, and drag in, it should ask to replace click yes.

MAKE A BACK UP OF YOUR "patch_mp.ff"!You must login or register to view this content.

Now start up MW2. Go to "Play Online" and go to "Private Match", start a game and you're all done!

If you get an error in the console like this, follow this next part.

ERROR FIXING!

Go to the place where the MW2 downloaded, my original is in Vuze Downloads

Like the other steps go to "zone".

COPY! DON'T MOVE THE "PATCH_MP.FF"

Click COPY AND REPLACE.

Now copy the "patch_mp.ff" to your desktop.

Open up a patch in ff viewer, (not the one you copied to the desktop).

Now go to "_missions.gsc", click CTRL+A and CTRL+C to copy.

Open a new notepad and paste into there.

Now open the "patch_mp.ff" that you copied to your desktop.

On the notepad press CTRL+A, and CTRL+C to copy all.

In ff viewer, you should have opened the patch that you copied to your desktop.

Go to "_missions.gsc" and press CTRL+A then CTRL+V and it will paste write everything

Now save it.

Go to your desktop and copy the "patch_mp.ff".

And paste it in over the old "patch_mp.ff"

Now, start up MW2>Private Match>Start.

The game should load.

HOW TO CONNECT ONLINE

Okay many of you are having trouble with connecting to online. alterIWnet have put in an automatic update system. But accessing it, isn't as easy as you may think.

First download the aIW-37a10802 update, which can be located by going to the forum You must login or register to view this content. .

Once downloaded, extract the files to your MW2 folder

Overwrite old files.

Now go to your, "iw4mp.cgf" and make sure it's the same as mine.

Now delete your bootstrap folder

And the same for caches.xml

You must login or register to view this content.

Now click on "iw4mp.exe", give a few minutes, then this screen will come up.

Type in the writing the same as I do.

Then, et voila, you can now play online!

Just make sure you exit the client and go to "alterIWnet_configure.exe" and type in your new name.

Load back up the client and you're all done!

lol. isn't this like the oldest way to do it as well. All you use is the modloader and press load and it loads all your files that you put in your MYPATCH. lol
