(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Due to the mass amount of threads and posts asking about whether or not they're going to get banned, I figured I'd make this thread to basically try and sum it all up for people that have yet to find out.

No one knows for sure. The major reason discussion concerning Playstation Network banning increased is because of a simple Twitter conversation between someone and '402', the community manager of Infinity Ward, Robert Bowling. Bowling did hint that something was going to be done, in particularly the Prestige 10 Hack.

Some people seem to think that nothing is going to be done about this, and that is was merely a bluff by Bowling in hope to decrease the hacker population on Modern Warfare 2. Some people argue that Infinity Ward couldn't possibly ban everyone that uses this hack, for that would require them to basically scan the leaderboard from bottom to top. Some people have come to the conclusion that only those with extremely high, and unfathomable stats, despite their play time, will be reset ( and possibly banned from MW2 on that account ).

Others are taking this conversation more seriously, fearing that bannings are going to begin, and that everyone who carried out the hack will be subject to the consequences. I've done some looking around, and some people argue that Infinity Ward may have a system or process in which they can identify hackers. There have also been other points mentioned in which are needless to really mention due to being rather vague.

Again, no one really knows which of the above it could be. So, if you're planning on asking the question: "Will I get banned?", merely consider both sides of this, and deem for yourself as to which you believe.

My personal philosophy is that the best course is likely to de-prestige. Chances of getting kicked off the leaderboards, and Modern Warfare 2 for that matter, will be greatly decreased if you are a lower prestige. If you're still worried, consider your days played, and go to a prestige in which you think looks legit.

I hope this serves as a somewhat explanation if you're still worried. If you're still on ends, you can always simply wait until action is / is not carried out and something is concluded or confirmed until making your move.

ok i have been on my hacked tenth prestige for a week have not been banned

I would rather there not have been a hack because since there was I was tempted to use it. Regardless there was a hack so it is Infinity Ward's job to fix it. The UFO hack could be used as an example of how many players were banned but also that can be counter balanced by the fact MW2 was only a few weeks away when UFO was going on. My conclusion is that if I were one of the original posters of this hack I would be worried. Being that I was not I am not worried at all but the people that should watch out in my opinion are the finders and first posters of the hack as well as people who have done it for many people. Everyone who did and/or is doing it for other people should probably not draw attention to the fact that you did do it and stop doing it for others.

**NOBODY WILL GET BANNED** do u really think that they will reset/ban every1 that has done it? they would be crazy to do... they will basically get rid of half the population on mw2, becausethe majority of the ppl will give up playing or not play it so much as they used to and infinty ward's CoD4:MW1 have thousands of people hacking online games not just ranks and they havent done shit bout it... so think about it; will they really go through all that hastle to get rid of all those players? i doubt it... and even if they are goin to do somthing about the cheating on mw2 it wouldnt be a lvl hack because most ppl in the world, if they really wanna be 10th they could, may take a while but its possible for everyone. so if they would so something about it, it would be things like god mode or no clip, or sum shit like that because you cant do that without cheating, its impossible. so think again when ur thinking of getting banned, go ahead hack it if u want to? Enjoy urself

i went 10th prestige for about 1 day and got flamed so much about it.

ofc i realized it takes the fun out of the multilayer because you have nothing forward to do.

i de-prestiged back to 3.
