Easy Lag Utility v1.0

The Original
For XBOX/PS3 and wired/wireless connections!

This is a simple program that I made during the last couple of days which will lag your connection on command. It is user-friendly, and has some nice features I thought might be useful to people who are more focused on their gameplay rather than dedicating all their attention to the program.

Important Note:
This is most useful when you are host, being a client to the game will not help you with lag, it just makes you lock up for an easy target. This program may not work on all connections, especially those with high or low bandwidths You may need to drastically boost the instances value to get an effect on these larger connections. Certain connections have very good stability which makes it very hard to create lag on this connections from the inside.

Features:

  • Pre-compiled list of target to ping, plus the option to enter your own target
  • Option to specify the amount of pingers to run (For more lag intensity)
  • Option to specify the size of the packets being sent
  • Hotkey to to start/stop lag (F1 to F12)
  • Auto-end lagging when specified time runs out
  • Option to chose voice or beep notification when lag time is out

How To:

  1. Select a target address from the 'Ping Target' dropdown (Any address will do. The only reason there are multiple addresses to pick from is in case one doesn't work.)
  2. Select a packet size to be pinged to the target from 'Packet Size' in the 'Transfer Settings' box (60000-65500 is recommended)
  3. Specify the amount of pingers to run from 'Instances' in the 'Transfer Settings' box (10-15 is recommended)
  4. Click 'Options' and configure any extra feature or settings you would like to configure (Optional)

FAQ:

  • What address do I put into the target box?

    • You may choose any address given to you in the target box's dropdown list. If an address doesn't give you lag, you may need to try another address.
    • Do not put your computer's IP in the box. You won't do anything except flood your computer, and that's no good...

  • I don't lag when I click the Start button!

    • While using the lag program, try to looking at a killcam from another player. If you see yourself lagging while they were killing you, then it works and you never had a problem to begin with! Happy
    • If you didn't see any lag while watching the killcam, you may need to increase the "Instances" value. This will effectively multiply the amount of pings that you are sending, therefore increasing lag.

  • Other machines on my network are lagging or disconnecting while using the lag tool!

    • Try shortening the time you lag your connection. If it still persists, try lowering the packet size and instance values.
    • If you still have an issue with this, maybe your connection is too small to handle this problem, though I doubt many people will get to this point. If this happens, please give me a PM and we'll work it out.

  • After stopping the lag program, I am still lagging or have a slow connection!

    • On your PS3, go to 'Network Settings", select your connection type, select "Easy" and proceed through the settings.
    • Try restarting both your console and PC.
    • If you are still experiencing lag or slow connection, reset both your router and modem by holding down the reset button for at least 30 seconds. If you still have problems after, your ISP may have a traffic limit on their customers and you could just be under that limit for a certain time period.
    • If after 24 hours, and you still experience lagging issues, please talk with me over PM. Although, most people have resolved their issue by restarting their networking equipment.

  • I still have a problem that wasn't addressed in the thread or this FAQ!

    • If you still have a problem, please PM me and we will work together to try to resolve the problem.

I don't know about cross-platform compiling for the .NET languages. I am looking into it right now for Mac, but I will see what I can come up with for *nix/Linux.

You shouldn't be setting proxies on your PS3 for this. It's simply just connect to a game and click the start button to lag.

Does this lag you? Or does it lag everyone but you? Im confused lol.

It functions just like a regular lag switch. It is best used when you host. If you are host, that means you are the center of all the connections in the game and the game is running off your system, therefore, if you use this program, you can "freeze" everyone else that is in game and do naughty things to them. I would assume that you can also use this with similar effect without being the host, but I haven't tested it yet as my PS3 is YLoD'ed and won't be back until sometime around the 10th.

Make the Intensity around 100-200
Then you will notice some Lag. then Click Select to see your Connection it should be the WORST!

He is right. If your packet size is already in the 60000-65500 range, and you still aren't experiencing lag, then you'll need to start bringing up the instances value. Just don't go too overboard with the number as you may lock up your computer. However, modern computers should be able to handle 100-200 without any problems.
