They could implement a gun as DLC, but we'd need the data via an update to prevent lag. Then this means people could hack to get it(we're NGU, so we'd obviously crack it!). So if a gun is to be implemented, it will probably be as an update.
lol in a sense it could come in a package on both an update(usually one comes right before the DLC, and you can figure out why) than the DLC itself...
Now that patch that arrives right before a dlc is made available is NOT at all random and usually it is used as an opportunity to fix a few bugs AND add patch info such as gun data into your memory etc so like if there was a new gun it would know the damage etc, along with matching adding all the new maps, well use that as our example....
A new MP is released and right before it a patch, the patch fixes some graphics clipping and then also at the same time adds code to the memory of the new map con-fig(new modes etc) along with the data to connect to the updated matching making, this will allow the game to check if you have the dlc to connect...
The actual dlc just enables that code for use and then also contains the actual map files to be updated to the game(that's why their so big) Also this is the reason on some online games when they update you still see the play list even though you didn't buy it but you cant play it.
Was hoping this will clear that up.
