BUT i have a mac.
iam trying 2 find smewere that sells GOOD quilty & mac dazzles . 2 record i have no idea were 2 get 1.

Editing and stuff has nothing to do w/ the capture source, you capture w/ whatever you want then edit(or slow down) w/ Sony Vegas.
Anyway I strongly recommend you save up and get an HD-PVR, but it's your money.

You need the component cables for your PS3/360, and that's it. Everything else comes w/ the HD PVR.
The HD PVR costs between £150-170 on PLAY, depending on season.

I don't know much about Macs so I can't answer the first question, but as far as iMovie is concerned it would work for everyday videos, like VERY simple ones. But those montages you see on YT ALL use Vegas. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

vegas 9 costs like $600(find other ways my boy) now I am not sure if that will run on a mac, which I do not think it does, I do know of software called 'Final Cut Studio' which is just for macs, its quite costly $1000(again, same as above) and just use that to edit.

For someone like me who does not play on an HD TV, I would personally get a easycap as they are relatively cheap(like $15) and can be setup pretty fast and work well. Now if you have an HD tv and actually PLAY with HD quality, then find a capture card that supports HDMI Input.

If you need anything else lemme know, but yeah google, Final Cut Studio, use that, its high end.

if you buy the more expensive dazzle it comes with an editor yh, dazzle is crap though to be honest.

ive got a dazzle and i play in hd and its just terrible, save up and get a HD PVR for about £160.

Sony Vegas is what you want, its the best video editor, if you have tons of cash just go buy it, its about £600 i think, however if you don't just download *FREE*

Yeah best way to get Vegas is to d/l the trial and then a keygen, same applies to Adobe CS3/4(will help down the line). Only difference w/ Adobe stuff is you need to block adobe.com somehow so it can't check your key.
