As I and someone else I said, you needn't pay for the editor, and Pinnacle Studio will SUCK if you're aiming to make montages in all honesty.

No. Composite comes with PS3. Component is bought separately (I think).

I know little of Macs, you may want to contact Hauppauge to confirm that Total Media Extreme(the recording program) will work w/ them.
Also I think you need to buy the component cables separate, but they're only like £5-10.

Idk if I am misunderstanding you but the HD PVR, costs $250, so I am not sure what you mean by "budget" Its some of the best quality out there but it has a price, so its better than stuff like easycap just way more costly.
