Many fans, or ex-fans should we say, are easy to critique Modern Warfare 3's similarities (based off of the gameplay videos they've seen, that is) with Modern Warfare 2. "Can't wait for the Modern Warfare 2 expansion!" and "I'm not paying $60 for another Modern Warfare 2!" are two of many quotes stated by upset fans. However, Glen Schofield, Sledgehammer Games' general manager, feels this couldn't be further from the truth.

In a recent interview with CVG, Schofield explains his certainty, as to what distinguishable factors are included in Modern Warfare 3. "If you put Modern Warfare 2 next to Modern Warfare 3 you would see a huge difference," Schofield said. "Look at all the character models, look at all the gun models, look at the reflections, look at the water. There is so much that we've added, so when someone says 'cut and paste', I don't even want to talk to them because they don't know. They just don't know. They have no idea."

Clearly, he's indicated that there's difference with the graphics, but fans also feel the gameplay is far too similar for Modern Warfare 3 to be labelled "a new game". Schofield continues to give his verdict on the new engine they used to develop the graphics. His analogy being "this thing is Porsche."

"I've worked on a lot of engines over my lifetime and spent a lot of time putting graphics in to them and this thing is Porsche," he said, "and what I mean by that is that it is stream-lined, everything in it is perfectly freaking clean. You can tell it's been worked on for years. It's easy to upgrade."

"On top of that you have what we added to the audio engine. Then there's a lot of stuff under the hood. People don't think about this but when you make your tools better and you can iterate twice as many times, you make the game better."

The mentioning of a public Beta for Modern Warfare 3 occurred during the interview with Schofield. He stated that there was so much work to do, he didn't know whether a beta crossed anyone's mind. With that in mind he felt the Call of Duty: XP event sufficed.

"We had XP and XP was in itself a way for 1,000s of people to play the game and for us to look over their shoulder and see how they were doing and how they liked it and that was really good."

For my own verdict, I'm perfectly content with the ways Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have stylised Modern Warfare 3. The graphics for Modern Warfare 2 were great, and the overall gameplay was more than satisfactory. I have no problems with Modern Warfare 3 being similar to Modern Warfare 2, considering it's a sequel after all. We'll have to wait until November 8th to find out more!

There's way Too Much..
Teasers NEVER do justice for what the real game play has in store for us. I myself am looking forward to the campaign and the spec op's modes more than the MP...They can do alot of coding in a month to finalize it.

Of course he is going to say that. He's making the game.
He never even worked on MW2, and I doubt he played as much as most of us here. A lot of us had 20+ days played.

Okay so Mw3 is different from Mw2? Did anyone see the big step from Cod4 to Mw2? Did people see the huge difference? Did anyone see the big step between WAW and Black Ops? Okay maybe they added the the Prestige Shop, and better graphic's. But dont you people realise that there is NOTHING new in the game! This explains why people see it being similar to previous game, Mw2.

There's no customisable camo's.. No customisable profiles.. its all done on Cod elite, on the PC. I mean come on, who wants to go on the PC, it should be in the game! There's nothing new, that's my opinion.

Dont get my wrong, I am still buying the game.. But I sence a disapointment coming along.

If they used a new engine for every game, it would take a lot longer to come out and would be like Betafailed3
