Reason for me is because i play a run-n-gun style based on the layout of maps. Most of the maps are cluttered with cover. I rarely find myself running in the open, which means im usually really close to the enemy when firing. Plus i like the fact that SMGs have a faster firing rate, and its seems they are quicker on the draw than Rifles or any other gun. So my question is, do u guys find urselves using SMGs more, and if so, do u feel they are a better class than Assault rifes based on the map layouts? Btw, I love, love, love MP7 silenced with rapid fire. So beast.

I have to agree with xd366, ^ this is a ridiculous statement to make about a game based on war, guns and shooting enemies. I use nothing but AR's so I'm going to say that, but just because you don't use one often doesn't mean they're not needed in the game, in fact you should praise people for using them if you think you are quicker and therefore at an advantage. You even admit to using them on certain bigger maps so you've even contradicted your own question !!!.

I admit in previous cods I tend to stick with SMGs but on mw3 I've started to use more assault rifles such as the MK14, ACR.

Assault Rifles are the best all-purpose guns in the game. They're meant for medium range.

The same rule applies for any gun in MW3: Play the parts of the map that are good for your gun and your gun will be awesome. If you have a SMG or Shotgun on Seatown, stick to the inner streets. If you have an AR or Sniper, play edges of the map..

It's about smartz.. and not about how good one class of gun is.

Both types of gun have a trigger and have bullets in them, and when I press R1 the bullets come out and kill people. So I'm not that fussed to be honest....

yes. there is a need for long range kills. i use all weapon types and its mostly assault rifles
