Self taught. I started with C# thanks to people like Sonoro and Choco, but now I mostly just do web development. PHP, js, SQL, I just learned by looking at code people had already wrote and figuring it out how it works. Security is invaluable to learn if you're focusing on web development so don't skimp out on that. Next thing I want to mess with is Node because server sided Javascript sounds hilariously awesome. Possibly also check out some frameworks like AngularJS and for PHP something like Laravel or Slim as those seem to be the way of the future.
School is fine for learning, but I always felt like its too slow especially once you get the hang of a language or two. It gets much easier to learn new languages once you have the core syntax down which is very similar among most languages.
