I'm not new to this
Install ubuntu via Wubi. When you start your PC, you get an option to use Windows 7 or Ubuntu.

Ubuntu is in my opinion the easiest form of linux to use, and is the most widely supported.

you can also download virtual box OS which will allow you to run windows xp vista or 7 inside it's own window and allow you to run any windows program. wine doesn't work on all .exe's
