(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I've had this problem for quite a bit now and nothing I've done has fixed it. Basically my internal webcam is not being recognized. I already tried redownloading/reinstalling the webcam software, I've tried going to device manager disabling/reenabling it and /uninstalling and reinstalling it. But nothing has worked.

My computer is an HP Pavillion dv6 model number dv6-1359wm

Here is a screenie of the software error message:

You must login or register to view this content.

Here is screenie of device manager (notice how there's no section for imaging devices):

You must login or register to view this content.

I'm pretty convinced it's the "Unknown Device:

You must login or register to view this content.

And finally the error it shows when I double click on "Unknown Device":

You must login or register to view this content.

Thanks in advance

Try disabling and reenabling the driver, then try a restart. If none of that works, try this "Microsoft Fixit" You must login or register to view this content.

I personally haven't tried this so I'm not sure Gaspkay:

Already did the first part and this is what the Fixit program showed but didn't fix it :fa:

Error Code 43 is a Device Manager error that means the following:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

When you get this error with USB devices it’s because one of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner. This can be because of corruption in one of the loaded drivers and the driver cache just needs to be flushed. Unplugging the computer sometimes doesn’t resolve the problem because the battery still holds power. To fix this, unplug all of your USB devices, then turn off the PC and take out the battery (This is assuming that you’re on a laptop), let the PC set for about 5 minutes, then put the battery back in and restart the PC. Next, plug your USB devices back in one at a time and make sure that they work.

If this does not work or you’re on a desktop, follow the steps in this KB article

(Mainly methods 3, 4,and 5)

yes, but i thought maybe from Win vista => win seven, and maybe then the problem started, because u didn't noticed it at first? :p
I know your feeling man, because I had the same with my webcam, but that was when I changed from OS... After long long hours of searching on the net, and searching on my computer it worked again.

'I've had this problem for quite a bit now and nothing I've done has fixed it.'
Maybe you know when u had the problem for the first time? And what you installed/changed on your computer then? There could be some conflicts.
Tried A system restore?
If you really want to know if it's broken or not, I think you can try to do a factory reset on another created partition, if it's still not detected I think it's broken?
But this are the 'bad' solutions.

You already tried to re-install the driver from yoru recovery disk right? Strange that that didn't worked...:\

Okay so I took your model number and ran it through HPs driver software section. They apparently don't have an actual driver download for it. I could only find the HP MediaSmart software for the webcam.

Have you tried going to the HP driver download section on HPs website and running their tools on your laptop?

Thanks for the effort, and yeah I've tried searching for drivers before. Weird this computer doesn't have any..
