(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I've had this problem for quite a bit now and nothing I've done has fixed it. Basically my internal webcam is not being recognized. I already tried redownloading/reinstalling the webcam software, I've tried going to device manager disabling/reenabling it and /uninstalling and reinstalling it. But nothing has worked.

My computer is an HP Pavillion dv6 model number dv6-1359wm

Here is a screenie of the software error message:

You must login or register to view this content.

Here is screenie of device manager (notice how there's no section for imaging devices):

You must login or register to view this content.

I'm pretty convinced it's the "Unknown Device:

You must login or register to view this content.

And finally the error it shows when I double click on "Unknown Device":

You must login or register to view this content.

Thanks in advance

Hmm...so since I have an HP laptop as well (a dv7 model), I looked mine up and it doesn't seem like my webcam as an actual driver either. For some reason I think it gets installed through the MediaSmart Webcam software. I had reformatted my laptop about a month ago and I think Windows Updates actually found the driver for me and installed it. Did yours ever come up in Windows Updates?

Nope .

Maybe the best thing you can do then is reformat the laptop after backing up what you really need. But before doing the reformat, get the wireless driver off HP. Then once your format is done and you install the wireless, then run Windows Updates and see what it installs and what it doesn't. Anything it doesn't you will have to go to HP for.

Try and see if all your drivers are up to date, sometimes you can have issues if they weren't all fully updated.

Try plugging the webcam into a different port and see if that does anything.

All my drivers are up to date, my webcam doesn't have a driver, and it's in the webcam is in the computer so I can't change usb.

I bought it either December 08 or 09. Can't remember. Anyway, it was always working. It stopped working about a month ago. I installed Ableton (music producing software) and it seems it stopped working after that. But it may not be because of that program. I did a system restore to about a month before even installing that

All I am getting is either the hardware went out, which means you can't really do anything or there was some sort of conflict with software that may require a re-format with the original disk it came with.

Don't take my word for it but that's all that I can figure as I am not a computer expert. :/

Yeah I'm starting to get convinced that it's a hardware problem.
