Grumpy is God.
Mac OSX Mavericks no question. However the program support is far superior on Windows and on a PC you obviously get far better performance for the money so I have a Gaming PC running Windows 8, and a Macbook Pro for school. I have come to like Windows 8.1 a lot but I still prefer the layout of OSX without a doubt. In my opinion it's much cleaner and better laid out but I think the price/performance ration as well as the program/game support difference is far more than enough to justify PC over Mac.

Also.. This should be in the Computers section not General Discussion.

I'm a god.
I like Win8's UI, but overall Win7 beats anything in my opinion. I used to use Linux, but it messed up on me a while back and since then I haven't really wanted to use it, plus the compatibility compared to Windows whether it be games, programs, etc. sucks.

I still maintain that OS X is far superior in terms of performance and memory management, the problem is that Microsoft won't allow it's API's on OS X meaning that I will continue to use Windows 8.1 (fastest Windows to date) for the purposes of gaming. The reason I say OS X and not Linux is because I'm too lazy to learn how to use Linux to the same vast degree that I can use Windows (basically OS X is way easier to use than Linux) tears

Needless to say, there's not much OS X offers on top of Windows, it's just that it looks prettier and it works smoother and it has a load of features that actually work well and that I want to use (meanwhile on Windows I spend most of my time getting rid of crap they want me to use tears)...

There's also the part that OS X only runs on Apple approved hardware... which makes pretty much everything above pointless and inferior, so even after admitting all that Windows is the better OS for me. Granted for laptops (unless you really want to game which I always avoid on laptops) I favour OS X.

Seems to be the only reason most people buy a mac. "It's prettier"

Btw if you are spending time removing stuff you shouldn't have bought an OEM pc because windows doesn't have all that shit in there.

To be completely honest with you, it used to be Vista, then went to Windows 7, now it's Windows 8.1 (now that I'm used to it).

I don't buy OEM PC's....

Windows by itself has a ton of shit that I never use.

Their default media player is trash.
Windows Firewall is useless.
Internet Explorer is useless.
Windows Update is useless and breaks more things than it fixes.

OS X has everything I use.

Sorry that you feel betrayed that someone who has used windows for 15 years is saying that OS X is superior as an OS. It's hardware utilization is far superior. I have OS X and Windows installed on my Macbook Air even though it's Windows 8 it takes far longer to do practically everything. I've shot 1080p footage that I've edited in FCP X on a Macbook Air flawlessly that I can't even start to use on Sony Vegas on the Windows partition. It's time to get off the high horse, the reason I still use Windows is because I am forced too, not because I want to, if Microsoft API's worked on OS X and OS X wasn't restrictive I would be using it now. You do seem to love picking on my posts don't you

Feeling betrayed? Not so much, just sempt like you have no idea what you are talking about and it still seems that way.

However Internet explorer was useless up till recently. It's actually one of the better browsers now in terms of HTML 5 but that's about it. Saying windows update is useless makes as much sense as saying anything that updates is useless. It's required to be there in order to patch itself. Mac goes through the same shit. Therefore not useless. There's no high horse you just seem to be a typical mac person. Also I'm not picking, just calling you on your bullshit, there is a difference.

If you're using the browser benchmark made by Microsoft, yes you're correct.

Windows Update is useless. There is a reason vendors offer updates for their hardware on their websites. Windows update should never try to take care of that. Just Google how many users are crying over a new Windows Update preventing or breaking x y or z on their computer.

I'm not a Mac person, do you still think the rig that I built in my signature is fake or something and that I'm some CIA agent pretending I know computers? I've been building them for years, it's not my fault you can't pick up a book on Unix and realize why it's a far superior OS than anything Microsoft has to offer.

Microsoft did one thing well and that was sell their product well. They penetrated key markets and they took over the world with it, and frankly it's fine that they did. They have every right to make their API's only available to Windows users, which is why I will still continue to use it because what I do depends on it.

Unix based operating systems will always still run better on lower end hardware, they will always be more stable, they will always be more secure. OS X is Linux with a better GUI and better apps bundled with it. Yes Linux is by far a more powerful OS, but my needs are not tailored for that which is why I still prefer OS X.
