Right I'll explain the different ranks of WHM otherwise you won't get far trust me .

Root: Can create Alpha reseller, Master reseller, WHM and normal cpanel accounts.
Alpha reseller: Can create Master reseller, WHM and normal cpanel accounts
Master reseller: Can create cpanel accounts and WHM accounts
WHM accounts: Can create cpanel accounts.


I did say it was confusing but at the moment since I'd class myself as a very small business with only a few clients. I started off with the easier option and went with buying alpha reseller accounts to sell hosting. At the moment it's fine.. I can do pretty much most things root can and I have knowledge that I don't even need root to help with problems. I can fix most things myself.

But I have bought a trial VPS to sort of brush up on my skills on hosting straight from a server which is pretty sweet :p.

Right now I have that web hosting site with some crappy template lol, just to start off. I'm currently sorting out my new site so yeah, it really isn't easy if you plan on doing it like me and other sellers.

Yeah I want to have hosting and all and want a Root account but I still don't get it lol!/facepalm

The only time you'll get a root account is if you rent out a ded or VPS, if you do that then you need knowledge of:

OS, whether it be linux or windows you have to be at least know a lot. That doesn't mean you using premade programs, I mean typing things in the cmd prompt a lot.

You'll need to know how WHM and cpanel work. By what you've said I see you don't know about the reseller accounts and how they work. It's extremely hard having your own server, it needs 24 hour attention.
