A report has emerged which reveals that most PlayStation 3 consoles are actually bought second hand.

A recent survey by PS3PriceCompare has revealed that out of over 1000 owners of the console, 33 per cent had bought their's second hand.

The second method which was used by 26% of people was to sign up via a mobile phone contract and receive the console as an incentive.

Interestingly only 24 per cent admitted to paying full price for Sony’s console, while the remaining 17% of people were given the PS3 as a gift (14%) or won the console in a competition (3%).

Finally 78% of the 1017 people that took part said they had bought a second-hand game for PS3.

Oh yeah in that special 24% ,bought both my ps3's full price. Also I've never bought a second hand game for my ps3 but it depends what sort of person you are at least I know that If I buy a game I'm the first to have opened the box and use the disk.

I bought mine effectively second hand (lol) seeing as it was a demonstration console in an electronics shop, however someone dropped it and I saved about £80 on it ad it only has a few small scratches on it, bargain. I have bought a few second-hand games as well selling some (like Assassins Creed II) third hand for close to the original price lol.

They should do one for xbox's too =D

My PS3 Slim... is Original price. Payed $299.99 Plus tax for it..at Best Buy

And my old PS3 60gb

payed $599.99 plus tax for that.

i got myne first hand, but half price, then sold it for full, money went towards 360 witch i dont regret that desicion tbf

i bought my 60gb new but my slim i just got a guy bought it and then traded it in a week later for a 360 so i got $40 off the price and got a 1 yr warrenty for free but i think then umber is so high b/ its not like 360 where your waiting for the day the rings go red and alot of the 360's got banned and people were scamming big time i would only buy a used ps3 both my 360's were new i wouldnt trust it any other way
