I think van persie is equally or dare I say better then rooney when it comes to technique, but the thing that makes rooney better is he scores goals week in week out, he is clinical. and i know what you mean about us always falling at the last hurdle but thats due to lack of depth in the squad. injuries is ALWAYS going to happen, now if we had a squad with depth then we would be fine. look at the squad I posted most of the players can play in 2-3 positions. and if we bought a big name player or just players that would persuade fabregas to stay. and if we bought a couple nice players that would attract other players. and pienaar would come, about a year ago there was speculation of him coming to arsenal.

my point about depth in a squad will be proven today when chelsea win the title. think how versatile their squad is.
Bayern Munich want Pienaar, who would you goto? A team who haven't won anything in ages or a team who have reached the champions league final? Besides if Pienaar went to you, he'd never start even though he's definatly good enough to do so. When walcott was playing for Southampton, he was playing more like a foward player, now he comes on in the last 5 minutes.
