Well, some of the things I download illegally for free, I end up paying for. The reason I do so is to see if I like the product, if I do, then I buy it and support the developers.

Before either of us buys/downloads it, who deserves it more?
Someone who puts a lot of effort into everything and is poor, or someone who puts no effort into anything, is a total dick to everybody and is rich/doesn't have to work for his money?

The question is who DESERVES it, not who paid for it.

I just download things free and keep them and will do so until some action is taken against me Happy

That's usually what I do most of the time, but there are always those really good products, and I feel as though the developers should be paid for their hard work and time to make something that good.
On another note, how are people caught for illegally downloading?

Personality has nothing to do with it, wealth has nothing to do with it as well. If you have money in your pocket (that you didn't steal) and went ahead and bough an album you deserve it as apposed to a "true fan" who downloads a copy.

It's okay to pirate if the product cannot be found due to distribution decisions or the fact the product is too old to be produced. However if you do download for any other reason then it's stealing no matter how you sugar coat it.

Some people who steal do deserve the things they steal though.

Only some however.

Well either Via your isp if you are downloading an awful lot or when you are torrenting there can be orginisatoins gathering IP's of the people downloading a certain file but there are ways to get round it such as downloading via a VPN or using usenet etc..
