I got one of these a few days ago, so Gobble was told via AIM. Seemed to die down for a day or two, but then they came back Nice post Fletch, keep it in the notice for a while, just to keep the dumb people safe :p

If they are doing a phishing scam, do you really think they wont be able to use a tool to change there IP address.

Just to prove this I'm going to sign on to this forum using different IP addys for a mounth, coming from all over the world, other than having my sign up IP they will not know when in the world I am, oh and the IP addy's I use a Anon addy's.

Chacking IP's will not work as well as some people think it will VB 3.8.4 is not that secure anymore, also the forum admins didn't remove the forum version for the footer, if they did it still wouldn't back any diffrence as it can still be found buy doing other things.

The fact is this, if the mods can't find who set up the account, and can't block the account it's self, it's cos it's and Admin account, maybe even a S-admin account, to the owner of the forum will need to check the hosting files and find is the S-admin account has been used or not.

And before someone says it no I'm NOT saying it's a forum mod or admin, nor am I saying the forum has been hacked, all I'm saying what what I think could be going on, and where they may need to look.

Dont give it out full stop, there is no need for a Mod or Admin to ask for any information like this, also if you do get an email/PM like this don't use the link that came or even replay to it, just log in if your not already, go to "User CP" and then change your password there, if it's cos you haven't change it in a said amount of time, changing it will reset said counter, and the problem will be sloved.
