Daddy's home.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); As you may or may not know, France have banned the Burkha (or veil whatever you wanna call it) from being worn in public. They say that it segregates religions from connecting with each other and that it is a security risk. Do you think they should have banned it or should ban it in other countries?

I think they should ban it. It is a security risk in my opinion. You can't walk into a bank with a balaclava or a crash helmet on because the camera can't see you face. What's to stop criminal using a veil to disguise themselves and at the same time look normal in while waiting in the bank. I'm also sure a murderer tried to escape the country by wearing a veil. I also find it slightly intimidating too. How do I know that it is a woman behind it and not a killer? It also splits up religions. How can you befriend someone who you can't see? how do you know that the next time you see them that it is the same person you were talking to the other day.

No hatred or racism please!

Discuss.

As sickening as the burka and what it represents is, I disagree completely with the idea of banning it. First of all, it's clothing; why the **** should we be banning clothing? Second, it is THEIR CHOICE to wear the damn thing. Yes, it is dictated by their religion, but it is still their choice. If they don't want to wear it then they don't have to. Third, Islamic women will start staying in doors for fear of being seen in public without the veil. Nobody wants that - it's counterproductive.

All banning the burka would do is restrict freedom.

As for the security risk thing, that's absolutely absurd. Why don't we just outlaw ski masks while we're at it?

****ing right they should ban it. We all know my views on religion so I'll leave that out. Let's discuss this simply on security, what is to stop a man from putting one on and robbing somewhere? Nothing. What is stopping somebody wearing one from grabbing a kid a putting them in a car and driving off. Nothing. I'm completely against anything that conceals identity. BTW Elfmotat, try walking into a bank with a ski mask on and see how far you get. I'd give it three steps before security is one your arse.

If someone goes to the trouble of kidnapping a child or robbing something, I'm pretty sure a little law isn't going to stop them from putting on the damn burka. That's retarded. You think they are going to ignore laws against serious offenses but obey minor ones? WTF kind of logic is that?

Why? People should have the right to remain anonymous. Have you ever used a proxy server? Have you ever posted as an anon on some forum? Have you ever worn a halloween costume that hides your face? Have you ever been to a costume party? Have you ever been skiing/snowboarding? Where should we end it? Anything designed to conceal the face?

Wearing a ski mask in public is not the same thing as wearing a ski mask in a bank. To say so is ridiculous. The security is there to pick out suspicious people and keep the bank safe ON THE PREMISES OF A PRIVATE COMPANY. They can choose to restrict what you can/can't wear inside their building, but not in public.

All this would accomplish is more restriction of freedom. We shouldn't ban clothing. Period.

My view is very simple; keep your own ways of living in your own country. Don't bring it over here. If you want to live here, either give up what we find socially un-acceptable or look elsewhere.

Also, did anyone see the piece in The Sun(UK) about the foreigners who got a £2M house paid by our taxes? It's a f*cking joke.

Crumpets and tea?
Like elf specified the burkha should not be banned.

However if it is seen as a security risk in some area's then maybe there should be a ban on wearing them in certain places such as banks, airports or other sensitive area's.

Don't you think someone would notice them first if it was illegal? They would then be less likely to use something to conceal their face, then things like cameras gets into play.

You've taken what I've said out of context.

You can't wear any of them things into a bank though can you. If you're wearing something like that in everyday life, someone is going to notice you pretty sharpish.

Who the **** wears a ski mask all the time? Okay, some people may in cold countries. However, there are other ways of keeping warm. Without concealing someones identity.

Simply just stating your opinion again, nothing I can argue here.

Let me push this a little further, you've touched on this yourself. There is a time and a place to restrict things. Burka's I think should be banned in public because they conceal identity and have no practical purpose. You mention ski masks, obviously there is a time and a place where this should be allowed. If you're in the mountings, fair play, it's damn cold. If you're in the town center, walking in and out of shops with a ski mask on, you're concealing your identity.

1. Do you expect people to call the cops over a burka?
2. No, they would not be less likely to conceal their face unless they were retards that like being caught on camera.

I disagree. It's all anonymity. How is concealing your face any different than using a proxy?

They are still legal to wear in public, are they not? I believe I addressed this in my last post.

So? It's still legal.

Who the **** said that? How often people wear them isn't the point - the point is that people are legally allowed to wear them.

However ski masks are still legal, correct? Why shouldn't people be allowed to hide their face? What's next, outlawing long bangs so that hair doesn't get in the way of being able to positively identify someone?

Neither do halloween masks. Should we outlaw them as well? Lots of things have no practical purpose.

So what? What's so bad about concealing identity?

I find your obvious xenophobia quite disturbing.
