(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); As you may or may not know, France have banned the Burkha (or veil whatever you wanna call it) from being worn in public. They say that it segregates religions from connecting with each other and that it is a security risk. Do you think they should have banned it or should ban it in other countries?

I think they should ban it. It is a security risk in my opinion. You can't walk into a bank with a balaclava or a crash helmet on because the camera can't see you face. What's to stop criminal using a veil to disguise themselves and at the same time look normal in while waiting in the bank. I'm also sure a murderer tried to escape the country by wearing a veil. I also find it slightly intimidating too. How do I know that it is a woman behind it and not a killer? It also splits up religions. How can you befriend someone who you can't see? how do you know that the next time you see them that it is the same person you were talking to the other day.

No hatred or racism please!

Discuss.

All atheists say that religion leads to war, and that w/o religion there would be no war. BS much.

There would no doubt still be war on other political disagreements but most wars are fought over religion so how often war occurs would definitely be decreased.

I personally believe all of religion should be outlawed but that's not going to happen so on a realistic standpoint the logical thing to do is not to ban it. It would only cause more diplomatic issues with foreign Islamic countries. Don't fix something that isn't broken.

In all fairness, elfmotat, they did ban Hoodies from being worn in certain places (in England). That is an item of clothing is it not? Yet they still banned it from being worn because you can't see their faces. I could put on a burkha and walk into a bank with the sole intention of robbing a bank. No one would know my intention until I made my move. Now walking out of a a bank in a burkha doesn't look suspicious as many people wear them so most likely I could get away with it if I was careful enough. No one will think twice about seeing someone in a burkha, right? Now if I did the exact same thing with a ski mask, while standing in line I would get picked out easily. Running out the bank I would get spotted because it is an unusual item of clothing to wear in a town centre. I would most likely get caught more easily as people would remember the mask. Another point I would like to make is that if we were to visit places in the middle east on holiday, we have to wear the same clothing as them. We can't wear crosses or jeans or T-shirts. We have to wear what they wear. They have banned items of clothing, have they not? Why are they allowed to with us but we are not allowed to with them? Would we be allowed to walk around in a balaclava? I highly doubt it.

We would be able to cut out atleast 60% of wars if religion had never came to flourish.

Crusades- Religion
WW2- Religion
War on Terror- Religion

These are just the 3 major ones I can think of from the top of my head, more people died in WW2 than in all the wars before it combined.

And there have been hundreds of thousands of much smaller scale religion based wars.

You can't blame WW2 on religion, Hitler was hungry for power w/ or w/o the Jews...
