Brief summary of what the agreement will allow the government to potentially do: Access hard drives of any device connected to the internet (cell phones, MP3s, iPods, and most importantly, COMPUTERS). If this agreement passes the government will be allowed to access your electronic devices WITHOUT consent or warrant and use evidence inside of them to press charges against you, hence, illegally downloaded music, videos, games, etc. on your hard drive you will be held accountable for.

My opinion: Our rights as citizens of a democratic country have been diminishing more quickly than ever before. First there was the patriot act (USA) passed in 2001 which allowed the government to tap our phones without a warrant and now there is ACTA, which if passed, will completely get rid of our privacy on the computer. The government keeping this quiet is another thing that pisses me off, which is why most of the people that are reading this have never heard of ACTA. This is completely against the fourth amendment (USA) and the government is starting to hold way too much power.

Opinions?

Discuss.

Here's to Loonyology!
You have to look at the other side of the coin also. Say for instance, this can help capture a large Pedophile ring or a people trafficing organization, then it is a good thing.

If people are moaning purely for the fact they won't be able to do dodgey things via the internet anymore, then that would be another good enough reason to do it.
If people complain about not being "Anonymous" anymore when surfing the webz, surely there is a good enough argument they can put forward to halt/stop this ACTA coming in.

I don't see any good enough reasons tbh, and can only see good things coming from this. However, doubters will always doubt and people will always oppose things they don't fully understand or haven't taken the time to look at both sides of the story. Too many people are willing to jump on a bandwagon or follow the masses without having any background knowledge of what it is they're fighting for.

If a pro's and con's list was drawn out for this debate, i believe the pro's would strongly outweigh the con's.
