(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I'm tired of the threads saying Wayne, Xzibit, and other people like that. I listed the best. I will show you the thread I made a while ago why Lil Wayne is terrible

I couldn't agree more with you about wayne, My favorite rapper of all time is NAS and as Rakim has stated in the passed that he's his favorite too because he's a rappers rapper. As I see by the voting NAS is not to popular with today's so called hip-hop heads I don't know why maybe because like LUPE he refuses to "DUMB IT DOWN".

NAS
I broke into Shakespeare's tomb and stole his remains, grinded the bones, smoked it, then got in the game.

One question why is DR. DRE on that list he's not ever a rapper he's a producer. He has never written his own raps you can put a stamp on that!

Would you care to explain 'The Cronic' then?

Is it me or is there a lack of knowledge about proper hip hop in this thread?!

For me the rappers listed are ok, most are sub-standard though. Obviously the likes of Tupac, Biggie, etc are legends, thats been proven over the years. The fact their music is still played and listened to even now shows what they did was make waves in this scene during that time.

As for modern day rappers, there's too many to listen to and too many to say who are good or bad.
On a personal level, i like to listen to Non-Phixion, Nas, Mobb Deep (can't believe they're not on the list!), Ransom, etc. and other East Coast rappers.
West coast is easier to choose as to who's better in my opinion as there aren't so many good rappers.

Some of the names people have chosen and gone for in this thread are a joke though. Seems only a few in here know what they're on about when it comes to real hip hop. The rest, it seems, just listen to that run of the mill stuff thats thrown about the scene like they're the best artist ever (ie. lil wayne).

That's my piece.

Dre might have written Chronic your right, but as recent as 1 1/2 ago JOEL ORTIZ came out and said when he left Aftermath as an artist he signed a deal with DRE to write for the DETOX, a few others have also been quoted as saying that there writing for DETOX. So in my opinion if you don't write your own stuff you aint a rapper don't get me wrong I like DRE AS A PRODUCER that's it. Mobb Deep is good but there a group not a solo act and if any group deserves to be on that list is WU-TANG so I'm sure that's why any groups were left off that list. I'm a Joe Budden and Slaughterhouse fan so to me RANSOM is a joke even when they were A-Team HITCHCOCK was pulling most of the wait as he's the best of the two. Trust me there is no lack of HIP-HOP knowledge on my end, but your right there are a lot of people out there I don't mean here just in general that don't know there HIP-HOP History. :y:

Almost forgot your right the Legends should never be messed with PAC,BIG,PUN,BIG L should never be scrutinized as there work stands for what it is. Even though BIG L died young in his career I always put him on my top ten because he was years ahead of his time back then he was saying stuff people probably just figured out now.. LOL

word, Its a shame nas and L got signed on to the same label on the same day. For some reason columbia records didnt see what talent they had and never gave L the proper promotion. Instead they spend all there money on giving Nas a name.

Here is big l's last interview, you can just tell how true to himself he was and that hip hop would have gone in a different direction if he never died.

Interviewer: "What are your opinions on the independent and the major thing at the moment?"

Big L: "Right now I'm putting out my own records because right now that's the best thing for me to do is to make major labels to respect me as an artist, y'know, to let them know that I really don't need y'all like that. I'm looking for a deal not a deal, the deal. 'Cos anybody can get a deal. If I don't get the deal, then I'll continue to put my own music out, and make my own money, until they give me the deal I need, the deal that's gonna blow Big L up as an artist"

Interviewer: "It's so positive to see the strength in hip-hop, that what started off is growing and growing and to see people like yourself still doing it. If something goes wrong with the major labels, you do it yourself."

Big L: "It's also for the love, for the love of the music itself. The financial reward is also great, but really without it I still got love for the game itself. In ten years, you probably won't still see me rapping, but I'm gonna be in the game somewhere, behind the scenes, producing."

Interviewer: "Hip-hop has gone so global now. Is that something that you would have ever envisaged when you first picked up the mic?"

Big L: "In the beginning, all I ever saw me doing was battling everybody on the street corners, rhyming in the hallways, beating on the wall, rhyming to my friends. Every now and then, a house party, grab the mic, a block party, grab the mic. I never really thought about making records and travelling the world. I didn't even think I could get a deal. I knew was a good MC. And then I went and made some demos, the first four or five labels just turned me away instantly. I was, like, heartbroken behind that because I felt I was better than a lot of MCs at the time. All of a sudden, [Lord] Finesse is calling me, like, 'Yo, one of the A&Rs from Columbia Records is really feelin' your music and he wants to sign you.' [deep sigh] You don't know what's that like, man. All my dreams came true. We just went into the studio, made the album, and the rest is history."

Interviewer: "Big L, peace man. Any words of wisdom?"

Big L: "Keep on lovin' Big L 'cos Big L love y'all. We gonna keep making hot music. The next album I'm gonna make is gonna be a classic. I'm not saying it just to blow my own horn or whatever. There's a difference between confidence and being cocky, and I'm real confident because I know what I'm capable of. It's gonna be crazy."

RIP L

...lmao, im sorry. i just had to laugh.

im not saying drakes songs are bad, but he is not what hip hop represents and seems that all the new people getting into hip hop flock to him and maybe wayne because he is on like every radio station along with eminem when he is totally over rated. its a shame that people actually think eminem was better than biggie. this whole thread is a fail.
