Here's to Loonyology!
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well, it's an ongoing debate at the moment in World Politics.

Obviously peoples views differ from country to country, and seeing as we have a large mixture of people from different races i was wondering, what are your thoughts on Western troops still being deployed in Iraq/Afghanistan? Do you believe they have outstayed their welcome? And when do you think the right time is to remove armed forces from a potentially terror stricken area?

My thoughts are varied on this to be honest, and i'd like others to share some views before i delve deep into my head.

So, please discuss...

[Remember, keep this tidy and not insulting towards peoples countries, race, origins, colour, creed, etc. thanks]

No Way Jose.
Then we wouldnt have cool movies like Hurt Locker and Jarhead.

Really I dont care, because it would seem as though America thinks Canada is doing nothing in the war to help, so if they want to do it themselves, bring the Canadians back and lets see how far they get.

Didn't they say the war was over now?

All they seem to be doing over there is peacekeeping.

I can't really see a legitimate reason for still being over there, but they do have lots of oil I guess. Winky Winky.

I believe we should remove the troops, we're perfectly capable of defending our own countries and while we're pouring money into our troops (albeit to keep them alive), we don't need to be there. England followed the US into this war, so now that they're gone, we don't need to be the 'World Police''s sidekick. I say withdraw, with Cameron we could focus more on our economy and politics and focus on the large changes and improvements we're trying to make.

So why do you want to be in the army? To look good? To act cool?
People who are in the army do it for other people. None of the troops will want to be there, but they are and risk their lives for their colleagues and to protect their country. That's the job of the army. If you don't want to go to war, you shouldn't want to be in the army for whatever reason. That's just sad in my opinion.

As for the OP. I think they should stay. We have lost way too many men in this war to just pull out and not 'avenge' their deaths. They shouldn't even have died in the first place, but that's what this world is full of, old men making decisions and young men dying. The thing I actually hate is the ConDem cuts. You can't want a war and cut the soldiers money. If you want war, you have to support the war. That means giving them anything the front line soldiers need and want whenever they want it. Tax goes up, their budget goes down. How does that happen? If they need 50 chinooks, give 50 chinooks as soon as possible, not debate about it for 5 months and let 50 more men die from a chinook shortage. If we pull out, they won't be occupied and will most likely come over on our soil and bomb us. Simple as that.

I want to be in army because the idea of the physical training appeals to me, I don't want to just go to another country to get blown up by explosives, that annoys me enough on PS3 let alone in real life =D

If I was to join the army it would be for the challenge and for a job without requirements.

They need to make sure the job is done. If you're going to war you have to see it all the way, leaving now would **** things up even more than they already were.

Ok I get that, but you still know that even when the war is over, they are still based all over the world on different missions such as peacekeeping. You still have the risk of being blown up in the Falklands seeing as though there are many unexploded mines. It's not just Afghanistan you can get blown up in.
