(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey guys, I'm almost 16 now and as all teens first consider is getting a Car. But I have never been on a proper holiday and I have a chance next july to go to New York for a 2 week holiday with lots of money to do whatever I want. But my mum gave me an option.

New york or put the money towards a Car.

In the long run I know the Car would be the winner, But I have always dreamed of going to New York. Just to get out of shitty fugging Ireland.

What do you guys think I should do?

Get the car, take the trip, get the car, take the trip. I can't make up my mind. Although I am grateful that this is my problem when some people out there are homeless and have nothing.

But my aunt took my younger sister to Spain 5 times and left me behind. No-one considered my feelings. It was really hard just standing at the front door step as she left. I had a tear in my eye because I wanted to go so badly, but no1 gave me the chance. This is my chance. And I think I'm going to take it.

Well, with you saying about not going to Spain was hard on you, I can understand. But if you think of it this way, with a car you can go anywhere you want at any time. Could just be going on a cruise round town, or over to England/Scotland/Wales or even France/continental. Although I heard it costs more on insurance, you could go anywhere any time. I would love to go New York too, and it would be a hard choice for me to make. I'm 19. I'm about half way through my driving lessons. Then I have my Car and insurance to pay for. I keep kicking myself for not taking the chance to drive at 17. Even though I didn't have much money at the time, it seemed like a good idea to wait till I get a job, buy essential things first, then with spare money take lessons. I never have minded walking, but then I got a job that requires me to be up at 4AM and start work at 6AM, being tired I can't be arsed to walk, but I have to. If I had my lessons taken at 17, I could be on my way to buying, if not, having a car. There are so many places I want to go when I got a car, trips here and there. I actually cannot wait to have my own freedom.

Just thought I'd throw in my personal experience which I hope helps you.

Oh, and as Como said, being in America would be better ar 21. You'd have the bars/clubs to go in, buying beer there etc. Maybe save up for Vegas as for your 21st?

Maggbot timeout!
I'd have to agree with Como for the most part. It would be way more fun when you are 21, I know when I was 16 if I would have had to pick I would have chosen the car.

This story has ended.
I think you should go for the car. I've lived in Ireland and New York. New York City is nothing special, trust me. There is some good shopping and some landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the Grand Army Plaza. However, London has just about the same things. I'd say that you should get the car and save for either a trip to New York later on or maybe another European country.

That is a good idea .. I've been to New York and I'm 15.. it's nothing special without clubs and bars.. just sightseeing.. I'd go for the car!

But your been given the option to go to New York.. why not go Spain, Italy or France? Cheaper then New York. Ask your mother for the money, but a nice cheap but good holiday in Spain and keep the rest and put it toward the car?
