BEFORE ASSUMPTIONS ARE MADE, READ THE POST.

EDIT: Perhaps I should change the discussion. Rather than cite the forum as a whole as totalitarianistic, let's refer to the "hierarchy" of this site. Once again, I'm not implying a thing. This is only a discussion, open to many things. i.e. If it isn't a totalitarian site, what is it?

First off, I just want to express the FACT that I do NOT want any flaming in this thread. This is a discussion, a debate... not an uncivilized argument.

I realize that I may get a lot of shit for this, and in response to that I would just like to point out that just because I may have pushed the topic does not mean I'm implying anything. This is all a matter of opinion, and surely your opinion will differ with someone else's, in which case you should not try to insult them. An opinion is an opinion, and everyone has the right to one.

In the event of which this thread has to be closed due to the constant flinging of petty insults and pointless arguments, I understand. However, if the thread is closed without any rhyme or reason, I will not.

Be reasonable, be nice, and be understanding.

For reference, totalitarianism is when the state of things strongly coincide with that of authoritarianism, and usually under one person's rule. The ruler (dictator, actually) gets to govern and regulate everything, and no other individual gets to voice their opinion, rendering it impossible to make changes with the people, for the people, and by the people.

Of course, I mean it more lightly than this. Obviously this site isn't completely totalitarianistic (if it were) to the fullest extent, because it's not actually possible for it to become one. (i.e. we CAN leave whenever we want.)

Let the discussion begin.

There's nothing to suggest. Only discuss.

As I've said before, the mention of totalitarianism is to be taken lightly, and not to the fullest extent of its meaning. Of course NGU can't be completely totalitarianistic (if it were, of course), because we can quit coming here at any time (although, everybody comes back =D).

I wouldn't say that it is becoming that way. I'd like to know who the person who is in control is though... Feel free to PM me if you don't want to let it out to the whole site.

I see where you're coming from, but if we all turned (A kind of revolt if you will) then something would happen. Lack of donation means outsider wont get as much spending money as he wants so change would happen. Until the rules change to prevent us from freely discussing the rules of this website and what we want changed then it isn't.

To be honest there's far too much (As gobble put it) "ass kissing" on this website ( I would have used arse but hey) This is beyond control of mods and admins and while this happens the ones of us who have any brain cells will always find themselves a minority when we suggest change.

I hate to be one the to have to say it but, most of the mods got to where they are by "ass kissing". It's just the way the world works. You even have to beat people until you get what you want or kiss some "ass". Seen as you can't hurt people over the internet, brown nosing is the way to go on NGU.

Change will never happen on NGU. Those who run the place have to much support from the arse kissers trying to score brownie points. Sure this place needs a thing or two changed, but all in all things work pretty well. It keeps us coming back doesn't it?

Fair point, The system does work, but as you said it's far from perfect, it will never be perfect as different people have different views. It just saddens me to see when people see a post from a mod then instantly hit thanks and nominate, or in the call of duty sections trying to suck up to Hunter. You can't stop them from arse kissing (Sorry ass just makes me think of donkeys) and in the end of the day its all that happens. It just gives the mods more and more power, take the thread a few days ago criticizing Mods in the General discussion forum. That ended with some fuming mods who were so used to getting their arse kissed for everything that when a group of people turn against them got quite pissed off.

It's like at school, the kid who always reads ahead in the text book and researches the next topic so he can look good in front of the teacher next lesson. Its so irritating, but anyone could go away and do it. Why don't we? I like to think we're trying to salvage what dignity we have.

Many of the site management have been here a long time. Since its inception it has been a small group with the power and popularity.

It was a part of what gave the site its charm.

It is in the last year that things seem to have changed.

The abandonment and lack of direction by outsider.
The massive influx of new members, especially the C.L. crowd and the amount of phony rep that generated.
The maturity level has fallen to pre school, and I don't think the original crowd was any older than now, but they sure acted like it.
The poor admins on here are busting their ass trying to give it some direction and leadership but their hands are tied.
The moderator position is not managed properly.
They appear to not be given clear guidance and act very differently from each other.
There are clear abuses of power on occasion and the rules governing them are vague at best.

Outsider left NGB 2 1/2 yrs ago to correct many of the issues his site is facing now.
He needs to get involved again with this one or give control to one of the dedicated admins who have been here from the beginning.

It is a thankless, payless job these admins and some mods are doing, but if they are not given direction and leadership then some should look to do what outsider did.
Try and take some control or ?

And listen to some of the older membership, they may not have the most rep, because they didn't run CLs or have a tech-no degree in hacking, but they been active and stuck around for a reason.
You are going to lose a core base if you only align yourselves with the populars of the last year.
